So Kahun...
The good: He has 23 career goals and 41 career assists, and 21 and 39 of those are even strength. He plays 13-14 minutes a night, so he reliably can be asked to do exactly what Sheary does, which is provide a mild offensive output 5v5 from a 3rd line role, except he is under contract and probably will be a little cheaper. The upside is he is younger and may have a somewhat higher ceiling.
The bad: He played a lot with DeBrincat and then Malkin, and I doubt he plays with Eichel, so his numbers going up don't seem likely.
Big picture, it's two forwards out and two in, and the two in seem like a very minor improvement. The downside is that very minor improvements to a trainwreck seem pathetic.

Schopp and BD killing Botterill. Still. Even with all the yeoman's work Botts has done for almost the last year and a half getting these moves done today. - Hatboro_Swords
You evidence against Botts is Schopp & Bulldog?!

Sort of lateral movement that's cheaper and fits the timeline better. About what you would expect from deadline day. I do like the move much more than trading them separately for 4th/5th rounders. |

It does kill me that had Botterill traded for Haula in the off season, we could easily have Trochek right now without losing a ton - jcragcrumple
We would probably be closer to Toronto in the standings too...
But shhhh |

good low risk move imo. The goodrow one still gets me. Im not entirely convinced he's any better than Johan Larsson. But that's just me. - Michael Ghofrani
Sabres would be wise to invest in more of these low risk-high reward. Lazar has turned out alright. Our big swings however... |

Well I wanted Haula at the time. And i wanted Trochek as well. So it's not really hindsight for me.
That said, I think JB did pretty well considering the position he was in - the position he put himself in to a large degree, imo |
