After these trades we have a good buffer between the cap this year and where we are at. I think they can fit all the bonuses in this year. CF is showing bonuses of 6M and change with 9M and change in space.
- SDSabre

If I am reading it right, and I very well may not be, the $6 million number is the potential max bonus, or that is the amount they would pay out if all the ELC players earned every single dollar of their bonus. I don't think they are there given the seasons they have having.

Also, I think the projected cap space number is the key to focus in on when it comes to absorbing bonuses.

Lunaion could very well come in and tell me I am wrong, though.

I wonder how much in bonuses he is going to earn. They have just under $800k to play with according to Cap Friendly, and he's got a max $2.85 million he can earn.

They're going to have to absorb some of it next season.

- buffalofan19

That’s just looking at the raw Cap hit #s
For example,
Simmonds has a 2.5 mil cap hit for us (NJ ate half)
BUT...
That prorated over 20 games,
so he really only costs us 625k against the cap
That 1.8mil that can now be available for bonuses for example

It gets very complicated
But if u look at the $$$ moved out, vs $$$ we brought in, it helps

Very steep for both.

Coleman is on pace to put up 30+ goals so the overpay doesn't surprise me.

Goodrow is solid but a 1st? big bet by tampa. He's got good underlying numbers but the sample size isn't huge.

Ek said Goodrow to Tampa, which translates to Gaudreau in Canadian. Johnny Hockey gonna be playing with Stammer!

Trading Erod and Sheary only saves us 20/82 of their cap space though or a round $1m. Maybe that's enough, with our cap space going in, to over the bonuses? If so, that would be good.

OK nothing like waiting another 5-6 years and for more picks to pan out and that's if they even do work out.
- SABRES 89

I happen to agree with you 100% 89.... This team did not improve today and does not look to improve anytime soon...

The fact that Kahun felt healthy enough to test his leg is, in itself, a positive sign when it comes to his availability for this week’s three-game road swing out West. The Penguins could use him back sooner than later. After starting the season with just two points in the first 11 games, he’s emerged as a versatile player and a top-six forward option when healthy. Among healthy wingers, Kahun’s 27 points rank third on the team behind only Bryan Rust (49) and Jared McCann (32).

This one snuck up behind the rest but I think Anaheim did very well to get Milano for Shore.

Schopp and BD killing Botterill. Still. Even with all the yeoman's work Botts has done for almost the last year and a half getting these moves done today.

It was fun, was hoping for a bigger move from Buffalo.

Getting Simmonds means you are going to try and make a run. IMO.
You need to add something to go with that.

Let’s see what that looks like at the end of the season

Regardless of how it fluctuates...
$6mil in cap out, $3.5mil in cap in
So that’s a good thing

Would’ve been nice to dump Frolik,
but there probably wasn’t any takers

I’d have also loved Vesey,
but it’s been said on here that the Sabres like him. So I’m not surprised he wasn’t moved

Yeah, makes sense. Don't think every player will hit the max bonus, so hopefully we can have minimal roll into next year and Botts (or GM next year) can use it to his full advantage over the summer.

good low risk move imo. The goodrow one still gets me. Im not entirely convinced he's any better than Johan Larsson. But that's just me.

It does kill me that had Botterill traded for Haula in the off season, we could easily have Trochek right now without losing a ton
