Stay the course Bott’s. Why trade an asset to finish 8th and lose in the 1st round ?
Should have done your job better last off-season. |

I (frank)ing hate Carolina. They trade or sign for all the right guys, they've got bandwagon fans who act like they're the best fanbase and they stole a cup from us in 06' so I certainly expect the to steal Trochek away from the bumbling Panthers |

Rodrigues for a 5th and we retain 25% of salary is my prediction for us today. |

Botterill has been bullish on not retaining salary this year. I believe he fully intends on absorbing all rookie bonuses this year, and going into next season with a full war chest. |

Perfect GM mentality for Buffalo...wait till next year. |

Deadline and Bottterill at 2:58 will feel the pressure of being a loser so he makes one move and trades Rodrigues for a 5th and retains a little salary. That's my prediction but I hope I'm wrong. |

It's realistically his best chance of saving his job next season. |

Point taken, but I have never considered Marc Bergevin as someone my team should model itself after. The odds of any move that guy makes being the wrong one are higher than most. - buffalofan19
Sure. But Jason Botterill's better?
Despite his faults, I'm certain (as he's mentioned) he focuses on the long term vision of his team, and isn't taking little 5 game samples as to where his team is at, as far as competing for the playoffs and cup. He can't simply trade away guys or add guys simply based on 'well, we're almost in the playoffs!'
I would say, though, I think it'd be foolish to trade some UFAs for the sake of trading them, for a couple 3rd and 4th round picks. Some folks think, just give a team like 3 thirds for a first!
no.
Those picks will be used to bring in more Sheary's and Vesey's. I suspect this is why Jason really hasn't moved. There haven't really been any core shaking trades this year. Rentals for picks has really been the name of the game. And based on the UFAs on this team, I honestly fail to see how shedding them will truly help us.
*exception being fantasy gerbe island where we package Vesey, Sheary and a 3rd for Trocheck, then Risto for Huberdeau. |

I am enjoying everyone's self pity here.
No one really knows what Botts will do. |

We'll see if someone ends up with Trochek and what the cost is. That would qualify as core shaking in my book. I don't think JB would consider moving Mittelstadt in a package, but he should |

I came here to see reactions to Friedman's Trochek news because I knew you guys had been rumoured to be in on him for weeks.
didn't expect angst over something that happened 14 years ago. |
