@vzmercogliano

JD added:

"It gives us 19 picks in the next two years, and three of them are in the first round… That's important as we're going through this process of building a franchise."

They expect Brendan Smith to step in on D, at least for now.

i bet rykov/hajek get looks too. they only have two more calls up's after today since they used two today

edit: the two today were getting Gauthier and Howden ahl playoff eligible

- NYRangers1124

I was going to ask if these were the two, but I see you edited.

So they have 2 more non injury call ups for the rest of the season? I could see them waiting a bit before doing anything. They have numbers for now and will be at home for 2 weeks (other than the MTL game) so they could get someone up quickly if injuries hit.

nothing is going to happen now - certainly not. and if smith slots in back at D and plays OK then they will wait.

i doubt kravstov will get a look this year unless they are eliminated at some point

Ok, what I miss? Is this a Inigo Montoya situation where you must quickly sum up or do I get the full monty?

With all of the teams having goalie injuries I'm surprised Georgie wasn't moved

Carolina gets to decide before the draft which pick they give us. So we will get the worse of the two but it's still a first round pick and we unload Skjei's cap hit

On the first round pick in the Brady Skjei trade: Carolina will have the option of deciding which of their own or Toronto’s they give NYR before the draft. So will keep the higher of the two.

So I showed up here last Wednesday night and took a lot of heat for my support for extending Chris Kreider. As it turns out, I guess management agreed with me after all. Still think this is a great move, and great for the rebuild. What they probably ultimately figured out is that any player they got for Chris Kreider would have been an inferior player to Chris Kreider, and that matters.

And with a draft pick, you just never know what you're going to get. That having been said, for those here who are so hot for draft picks, you got one anyway, and for, I think, a much more replaceable player, and one who, unlike Kreider, has regressed, not progressed. So, I think a great day for the Rangers (other than the accident, of course, but even that could be put in the "could have been much worse" category).

Thanks man, just in the process of a career change, stopped teaching after 8.5 years, trying to find a job in Web Development / Software Engineering now.

Hasn't been easy!

Hope all is well with you.

I think a bigger overpayment was Foote and a 1st for Coleman.

Wonder if they decide to go top heavy on D with AD and trouba as a pair(I remember they may try Tony on the left) Smith Staal is pretty scary tho lol

Would much rather see Hajek and or Rykov, or someone I may be missing

Rykov plays the right side even though he’s a lefty. Bring Hajek back up, give Trouba Staal.

Yea I think it’s Staal with Trouba too. I think it would work better then Sjkei did. Can’t be any worse

I wouldn’t mind seeing rykov ahead of Hajek. I don’t recall seeing Rykov play yet

Also, I think it would be foolish to split up Fox and Lindgren. Let them develop together. Changing them up doesn’t seem to be logical either, they have been great

Wild idea: If Patrick Kane is made available in the off-season/NHL draft, would you be willing to part with the 2 1st round picks this year in a package (assuming its not a top 3 pick)? Lets say its picks #7 and #16.

Wow that’s crazy idea lol money wise would be virtually impossible.

I would love to try and trade up for Byfeild. I realize that’s not gonna be easy. But they have the assets to do it. No shyt, Byfield would be the last piece of the puzzle

I was looking at the money and realize its virtually impossible to make happen unless Lundqvist agrees to go there.

Yea Byfield is my pipedream at the draft. If they can package the 7th and 16th together to move up to 2 or 3 Id be stoked.

My other pipedream is going after Barkov, who after this year has 2 yrs left on his deal and put him between Panarin and Kakko. We can send our 2 1st rounders and the rights to Ryan Strome plus maybe another throw in. By the time comes to resign Barkov, Hank and Staal will be gone and we will be starting a fresh with no baggage.
