If it's Toronto's pick it's top 10 protected and would go to 2021 - KreiderBomb
Isnt lottery considered picks 1-15? So if its 11-15 we keep it. |

I know we see him night in and night out, but he has the skill to turn it around. If he goes back to his rookie year I’d go as far as to say CAR wins the trade. It’s a no brained for us to make this deal but just pointing out it could work out for both sides. - nyrangers9479
something happened with the 3 bachelor pad Rangers (Hayes, Skjei and Vesey)

Hayes fooled someone into paying him big money. |

That's correct. And if it's 1-10, it would push to next year, with no protection. If we got Carolina's pick, I'd assume they would put some sort of protection on that too, although I wouldn't think they'd give us a first at all so what do I know? |

I think Flyers are fairly happy with him though, he's overpaid for sure, but Flyer fans really like him from what I hear |

I’m serious when I say this, I would’ve been ok with a second or third for him. I think he’s that bad on defense |

I'm still very curious to see the details of this deal. There's no way we retain salary on a contract with that much term, and in such a deep draft this year it's odd they would move a 1st after just acquiring vatanen, without addressing their goaltending. All pretty confusing but I'm thrilled right now. |

I would be worried about him in the playoffs. He was a shrinking violet, but how could you not like him. He literally plays every situation and has some pretty high end skill |

We got that AND a 1st pick in a fairly deep draft. I wonder if Gorton put a call into Sather asking for his black book of dirt. |

And he probably has, in his possession, the finest weed Philly has to offer |

Does Skjei typically play the left or right side?

I like Kreider too but if Pageau got that kind of haul from the islanders imagine what we would have gotten for Kreider. I’m fine with the salary but 7 years is much. I understand why Kreider wouldn’t go for a 4-5 year deal but still. However getting a 1st for Brady (frank)ing Sjkei. After Carolina already traded for Vatanen?! A++ for Gorton on that one |

The thing is, trading Kreider for picks and prospects essentially kicks this rebuild down the road another few years. If his contract demands were crazy, you can't give it to him, but 7 x $6.5 is reasonable for a UFA, even if we all would've liked it to be a couple years shorter. Jeff Gorton pretty much told the fans and players today that he expects us to be competing for the cup starting next year. As a fan you can't ask for any more than that |

he's come pretty much as advertised. his work on the PK is really the most impressive. i think most of us are still not happy about the money but he hasn't been as disappointing as we expected. |

surprising finsih for NYR ,selling Skjei for #1 ? I D K but consensus is a great move
who now plays left with Trouba ? Id like to see A dA
whos getting the call to play on D ,not smith ? cant beleive we couldnt give him away
HANK gets to ride out the P O run with Georgie ,Shesty out for season ,who knows he may resurrect himself to carry team into P O's ,buy out this summer for 3 mill savings is biz move no matter what ,gonna be fun to watch all unfold
Still stoked ,just hope we have the resilience to bounce back from accident and still keep it going ... |

JD added:
"It gives us 19 picks in the next two years, and three of them are in the first round… That's important as we're going through this process of building a franchise."
They expect Brendan Smith to step in on D, at least for now.

i bet rykov/hajek get looks too. they only have two more calls up's after today since they used two today
edit: the two today were getting Gauthier and Howden ahl playoff eligible |
