They'll now have about $16 million to sign everyone else and that's before they do anything with Smith.
With the first they got for Skjei, a summer blockbuster might even be in the cards. |

Right now I think he's #3. - BINGO!
He's an expensive #3. I hope he works out, he just really needed to leave NY. |

Yeah, I think he will do fine for you. Problem now is that you're blowing $5.25M on a 3rd pairing D man. |

Tony is the priority. Chytil is ready to jump up to the 2nd C makes Strome not as important to sign. |

What a weird turn of events, like resigning Kreider though I wouldn't have been upset with the haul he could have warranted, not sure how I feel about Skjei, cap move had to be made and there's a log jam on D, hopefully they get Miller out of Wisconsin this summer. |

I kind of agree with that. The Rangers have compiled way more assets through the draft than are ever going to have a reasonable shot of playing for the Rangers. I could definitely see them doing something this summer via trade to make this team a serious contender. I have no idea what that would be.

I honestly dont even know how to classify him. He's been a net negative on the ice all year, playing 1st pairing minutes albeit. Maybe in a sheltered role it'll be better but with that price tag woof |

TDA and Strome may very well eat up 12 of that 16 million. Factor in another 2 for Lemieux, Fast or his replacement, and a couple of ELCs to fill in gaps that money is gone even with Smith and Staal bought out. |

I don't know. I want to keep Strome. He seems to really be coming into his own. I am not sure what it will cost, but if you could get him the neighborhood of 5 years/$25 million, I would be all for that. It's good to have the depth at center.

Look everyone! Tom is back!!
Fast is not going anywhere now. That would have been a desperation, cap-compliance type of trade. Now, even if Tony and Strome do take 13 of the 16 million, signing Quickie is only to be less than $1M more than he is on the books for right now.
Chump change for the guy who allows Panarin to roam free whenever he pleases. |

Yeah, when we trade both of our 1sts and Hank to Chicago for Kane.

I think at this point Staal just plays out his contract next year. |

True, but I think Chytil is finally coming into his own and is way more skilled than Strome. Chytil was always supposed to be the #2. Don't want to pay Strome to be a 5 mill 3rd line center |

Lol. I think a more stay at home guy would be good for Trouba. They invested a lot in him, they gotta get the best out of him |

Staal at $5.7 million for one more year isn't that bad. He has been pretty good. Maybe not $5.7 million good, but pretty good nonetheless.

TDA and Strome might eat up quite a bit, but let's not forget if Kravstov is ready next year, we have Buch, Kakko, Kravstov, and Gauthier as your RW and on the left Panarin, kreider, Lemeuix, and whoever sticks on the 4th as LW. I'd say our roster would still be pretty set. |
