Everyone but Kreider, Buch and Igor practicing today. No more trades for the day? Could be a mistake not trading Fast

Everyone seems to think players always will take the most money. Fast loves it here. The org loves him too. I’ll be stunned if he isn’t a Ranger next year. He seems to be the ultimate team guy. 2.5 is a raise for him, and fair contract. They need to keep him imo, he is integral in so many ways.

His haters can suck my hog haha

The presser put a lid on ANY moves the Rangers may have made.

I agree with all of this I just don't know where the cap space comes from. Even with Staal and Smith bought out and filling gaps with Kravstov and other cheap contracts NY is still a few million over the cap if Strome, TDA, Georgie, and Lemieux return...Skjei would have to be moved and it still may not be enough to bring back Fast and have extra skaters/call up space

You might see trades (rights to and players) at the draft.

Skjei and Smith have to be the odd men out, for me at least.

Strome is gone man. He’s the odd man out. Because he’d net a decent return also. They need to trade for a younger center if they do that tho

How great would it be if Pageu fled the Isles after this season and signs with NYR , after they fail to make playoffs

Kreider deal (7 x $6.5M AAV) is front-loaded and has some no-move protection which would rule out Seattle expansion exposure

If strome is the odd man out they should trade him today. With Igor out for a month, our playoff push is effectively over IMO. Trade whoever you don't plan to keep through next year, and let's get a better pick this year. Not saying to "tank" but let's not hold assets for the sake of holding them

So they met in the middle on cash and balanced the extra year with the terms of the NTC

Yes but if Strome is willing to stay for 5-5.5 per then what?

The fact of the matter is we can't keep Kreider for $6.5, Strome for $5-5.5, Fast for $2.5 and still sign ADA and Lemieux. That is unless they can fully unload one or two of Smith, Staal or Hank, which looks unlikely

Thought this deadline was supposed to bring closure...Kreider is resolved but it seems like there are more questions now than before.

I would feel much better if some GM would panic and trade for Staal or Skjei

Lemieux can go at any time, as far as I'm concerned. Not that I have any sort of hate for him. But, I prioritize all those other guys ahead of him.

Just looking at the moves today, Carolina needs defense. Yet they traded 3 centers and a defensive prospect to bring back center Trocheck. Maybe Skjei for Trocheck could still work?
