Speaking of more assets for OTT.
Looks like Pageau is heading to NYI. - Tyler Cameron
Holy. Pageau bring in a big return.
@SunGarrioch
The #Sens a first in 2020, a second in 2020 and a third in 2022 in exchange for Pageau from the Isles. There are conditions on all picks. #TradeCentre
--
Now up to 15 picks in 2020 with 3 x 1st rounders and 4 x 2nds. That's insane.
Will be curious to see if they flip those picks now or at the deadline to help their rebuild. They have a ton of leverage now.

He's a bum. Don't want him anywhere near Madison. For the Capitals getting him makes some sense, lightning in a bottle, maybe he'll be inspired by playing with Ovie. But for the Hawks? He's a terrible idea on every level. - kwolf68
Had the Hawks still been in the hunt (REALLY in the hunt, not in the warming hut watching everyone chase the fox), he would have been an OK "buy" at the cost of a 3rd round pick, IMO.
Now, of course, no need to pick up a 36 year old with his prior issues at any cost. |

I have a sick feeling that we will be very disappointed in Bowman today after comparing his moves to those of other GM's on rebuilding teams. - 67hawks
Bowman has some issues that exist though out of his control. Both Lehner and Gus are "rentals". Limited control will depress their value somewhat. I do think Lehner could be a "final piece" for some team so if he moves I think the return could be pretty good. Not sure about Gus, most of us would be happy getting a 3rd or 4th for him, but I think teams still see he has upside in a certain role. So maybe we get more for him.
Only way Stan moves Saad is if someone is calling on him, no reason to trade him at all. Young, skilled, 200 foot player, could be part of the next run even. YES, you do move him for heavy futures, multiple high end prospect/pick. Otherwise, Stan will pass, he's not giving away Saad for a 3rd and some lottery ticket prospect. |

That 3rd is from the Caps so it'll probably fall into the 80ish range. The chances of drafting a top 6 forward or top 4 d-man at that spot are minuscule.
The Habs will probably use it to take a flier on a different Russian. - Rota's Rooter
The Caps are in a similar position to the 2010-2016 Hawks, so I think it's a decent move for them. |

I listened too. That is because Moreale is a New Jersey guy. Notice he didn't mention one western conference team or player in his segment? - LAHawk
Not just that segment - I listened for about 1 hour 15 minutes (long commute) surrounding his segment, and absolutely no mention of the Hawks, Lehner (and they spent good time talking about the NYR situation), Gus, Saad, anyone....
But, yeah - it's a Toronto-based operation with very little Western Conference talk at any time in the year. |

Good lord!!! That's a hell of a good return for a solid, yet unspectacular bottom 6 player. |

Correct D. I do not like the guy, but when the deal was first made I gave Wash kudos. For the Hawks in their current situation he's of zero interest. |

Is Pageau a rental? UFA after this season, probably looking for $5 + term. He brought back lots of picks with only one 20-goal season. |

TRADE:
@TSNBobMcKenzie
OTT trades Namestnikov to COL for a fourth-round pick in 2021, per
@DarrenDreger
--
And it begins.
Well, not for Stan.
OTT now has 13 picks(!) in the 2020 draft. And I wouldn't be surprised to see them add another couple by the end of the day. - Tyler Cameron
I remember the good ole days where the Hawks were buyers. Some trades worked out, some didn't and some were definitely over-payments by Stan but you have to go for it if you are in a position to win. You can't fault a GM for going for it. A chance at the Cup doesn't come around that often so you have to give a little bit more to improve your team especially if it's for a first or second liner or a primo defenseman.
Saad would be huge for a team wanting to win and he wouldn't be a rental either. If Stan trades Saad, now is the time as he should fetch a nice haul of young talent and draft picks.

That would be a newsflash.....
I think Gus and Lehner will be gone.
If Saad goes, that suggests Stan has permission for a longer rebuild. Makes it harder to sell next year as "we're going for it, buy your tickets".

Honestly, I am not critical of one of Stan's big "go for it" moves, in getting Vermette (that worked out) or Ladd (that did not). My issue revolved around a series of boneheaded trades (Leddy, Kimo, Danault) and I think he handed out some questionable contracts. I think he did great leading up to 2015, slumped, but of late I think he's done a pretty good job.
today COULD be a big day for him. I'd love to see him turn UFAs or proven assets into multiple futures. |

I might trade Saad for that type of haul, although I'd prefer a nearly-ready prospect. How about you? |
