I hope you're right on Saad.....I just think at a certain AAV its not the Saad the player that I don't like, its the ROI and for me that's above 7 AAV..6-7 AAV.

Good point on Mitchell saving the extra year for a full season. I haven't seen him play this year so I am hoping to catch him this spring in college OR at Rockford. Would like to see how far along he is.

I misread it. I didn't think they did retain any salary. Hawks retained the max they could. I guess the Leafs were involved to get Vegas the cap. At least from what I can make out on CF.

Doesn't mean Seattle will take them. Murphy is one I suspect they would protect at this point. They won't need to protect their young guys like Boqvist, Beaudin, Mitchell and that group.

At this point, Justin Holl might be their 2nd best D-man. Good for the kid for persevering.

But we did, we retained $2.5 m of his prorated salary. Toronto retained $1.1m of his prorated salary.

A team can only retain 50% of a player's salary. Vegas needed more than that retained, so somebody got creative and got Toronto involved to retain some more in return for a 5th round pick.

Trading his rights for the 5th they lost in obtaining him.

JC is horrible , I'm starting to believe he wasn't hired to coach this team into the playoffs and contend , but to simply be the interim head coach to manage this team through the rebuild with limited expectations.

No sane owner would tolerate or allow this to continue of missing the playoffs again.

Basically, we get the better pick (Calgary's 3rd or the Oilers 3rd).

Right now, Calgary doesn't have the Oiler's 3rd. For them to get the Oiler's 3rd, Milan Luic needs to score at least 10 less goals than James Neal and James Neal needs to score 21 goals.

James Neal has 19 goals, but is on LTIR. Unlikely he reaches this total.
Milan Lucic has 6 goals and is playing.
