Where is there to go? Committed Indian is a PoS that shut down their board years ago and r/hawks is Homer's paradise.

Underwhelming return for an offensive Dman. I'm not saying he is a star, but this seems more like he wasn't' gonna fit into the salary structure and they had to get something for him. The trend lately has been more of a buyers market at the deadline, so I guess it isn't too shocking. Doesn't seem like teams were willing to part with much of their future.

A 3rd is what I hoped they would get for him. Last season was his one magical season. He will never come close to 60 points again in his career.

At the height of TDL mania, it turns out Gus was worth a 3rd.

Based on comments, that's just your opinion. Pretty sure Stan turned down better offers, or so I've read....didn't play his hand properly...loser

Alright I'm outta here. Thought I'd give the site a chance to support a friend on here but now I see why HockeyBuzz has the reputation of being a site for homers and the intellectually disabled. There are some good guys on here but the majority of you are a bunch of troglodytes who seem perfectly content making arguments not based on numbers, stats or even logic in general. It's no wonder so many people come here and then leave. Please for the love of god stay here forever. You'd be doing the entire Hawks fanbase a favor.

Hey man not all of us are like that and there is no reason for you to lump us all together. We all come here to talk hockey and of course anything related to the Hawks. Have you heard the phrase thick skin. You can't get mad at people who don't agree with your argument to fit your narrative that you are tossing about. I did enjoy your posts but if you want to bounce then by all means dueses!. This site is alright and there's some good guy's and gal's here. It's the Madhouse of HB!!!

Until last year Gus was closer to a #7 than anything else. Now that he's NOT playing like last year he's more a #7 again. The other teams know what they're looking at.

Ben Bishop in 2017 only got a 4th when he was traded from the Kings to Dallas for a 4th rounder when he was a UFA right before the TDL, after the Kings got Bishop at the TDL from Tampa for Peter Budaj, prospect Eric Cernak and a switch of draft choices.

Based on Bishop's resume, Stan did quite well in getting what he got for Lehner. Here is hoping that Demin turns into Eric Cernak. If Stan would of waited till right before the TDL and only got a 4th for him, imagine how this board would of reacted.

So carryon...thanks for letting us know how ya really feel. We will all hold a vigil in your honor that the smartest guy in the room came and went.

Add in Bishop didn't come with all the baggage Lehner does and it's a good return fr a guy who has an over-inflated opinion of himself.

Those of you who thought we didn't get enough for Gus, what do you place his value at? Just trying to figure out what fair value is for Gus.

Not trying to be a smart arse, but it doesn't really matter what we think. The market bore that he was worth a 3rd rounder.

For the sake of answering your question, a 3rd is where I had him pegged at this particular moment. If they were to trade him at the TDL last year, it would have been higher. If they traded him this offseason, maybe a second? At the end of the day everyone knew about his pros and cons.

Well at least they were thinking ahead a little here:

#Blackhawks made a paper transaction: Matthew Highmore and Lucas Carlsson were assigned to @goicehogs to make them eligible for AHL playoffs. They were immediately recalled.

Oh man, bummer... but don't worry, if anything changes, I'll make sure I stop by the backroom of the local McDonald's during your bathroom cleaning shift, to alert you it's gotten better here, for possible consideration of you rejoining us.

You know, at first I thought Lehner had a good head on his shoulders, team guy, and really concerned with helping people who suffered from some of the same demons he struggles with. And, he was a good mentor for Nylander, family man, has fun as Panda as an alter ego on twitter, and that's acceptable "baggage".

But, sometimes the professional behaviour is the tell. Calling out teammates isn't cool, being bad at breakaway and shootouts is a true handicap, and he probably got a little tired of being a target behind an inexperienced defence, and at the mercy of a green coaching staff. He probably got tired at the messiness of this team as it finds its way, and he probably wants the stability and dough he feels he deserves at this point in his career. Stan saw it differently. So, let's thank him and wish him well.

Well that was an interesting read and (for me) overnight catchup.

Farewell Robin, we hardly knew ye!

Gus...... just farewell.

How soon is too soon to start complaining about the free agents we aren't going to get in this upcoming offseason?

So - is it true (as has been reported by Lazarus) that Lehner offered to sign a three-year contract for less money from the Hawks, but a deal was never offered to him?

If true (and not knowing anything more, I’m a bit doubtful), why didn’t Stan make the offer? If true, did the Hawks become disillusioned with his play, personality, attitude?
