This is a demonstrably untrue old hockey "truism." The key is finding a hot goalie, not an expensive one.

The more germane thing those 3 rebuilding franchises had in common was some of the worst skater depth in the NHL, especially on defense.

My point was that having good goaltending is important to a team that is trying to rebuild. Good goaltending will win a rebuilding team some games, help to assess the skaters, and benefit team morale. As opposed to a young team that gets pummeled most nights and even when they play a decent game lose because their goalie left in a couple of softies.

The Hawks got a worst second then there own giving up for Shaw the third his yet to be determined as it’s next years third a prospect and a rfa goalie we can just walk away from but his cap hit is less then lenhers now this should give the hawks enough space to pay all of the performance bonus this year on this years cap.
