Not sure what to make of this. From the Athletic.

A source close to Lehner said he told the Blackhawks he would take a three-year contract extension because he loved it in Chicago, but that he “never got an offer.” The source said Lehner wanted to take less because he “loved the guys — the young guys and the old” and “wanted to do everything to make it work.”

In the end, though, the Blackhawks decided they couldn’t make the extension work, and shipped him to Vegas for what can only be described as a modest return.

It could simply be that Stan realizes that this team is not close to competing for a Cup and is not going to put ANY money or term into the goalie position. I am purely guessing here, but if he can get Crow at about $3-4M per for a year or two I think that is perfectly prudent. That allows them more flexibility to remake the rest of the roster.

Lehner told the world he wasn't giving a home town discount 6 weeks ago. Unless Bowman was going to pay whatever it took to re-sign Lehner-Why would he negotiate with him before the trade deadline? Then the 7x7 stories are reported and it is no wonder the Hawks couldn't get a #1.

They got back a (worse) 2, 3, and equivalent of 7 (Subban) for Lehner (top goalie on the market) and Gus.

This is what the athletic had for LV prospect rankings, he was number #11 on the list...

After a strong freshman year at Denver, Demin hasn’t taken major steps forward as a sophomore. I still like where his game is at though. The production will begin to come once he’s awarded more opportunity offensively after star collegiate defender Ian Mitchell moves on to the pro level. Defensively, there’s a lot to admire about the way Demin plays. He throws his 6-foot-2 frame around as a hard-to-play against, long defender with above-average skating for his size. He can also push pace, occasionally with his feet and often with an outlet. His play from the blue line in needs to develop a more dynamic quality, but I’ve seen him manufacture offense from the point. He’ll be a four-year player in college, but he’s still a teenager. Look for him to take a big step forward next year, particularly on the scoresheet.

Seems like a low risk high reward kinda guy to get. Solid on both ends of the ice. Has some ability to run the point on a PP with a good shot. Seems like he's highly regarded on the Defensive end.

From the article for comparison...

"Demin plays a similar style to Alex Pietrangelo, however this is a style comparison only and not an indication of potential or ability."

It was from Laz, so I take it with a grain of salt, but it just is silly to speculate like that. I'm sure that he will use this in future posts justifying his "brilliance" over others saying that they settled for less when he has no idea what their expectations were or what else was actually offered/available.
