A source close to Lehner said he told the Blackhawks he would take a three-year contract extension because he loved it in Chicago, but that he “never got an offer.” The source said Lehner wanted to take less because he “loved the guys — the young guys and the old” and “wanted to do everything to make it work.”

In the end, though, the Blackhawks decided they couldn’t make the extension work, and shipped him to Vegas for what can only be described as a modest return.

yes... he is and its pure BS about him not being a team guy...everything i have heard from the beat guys and other sources say nothing else...

i don't think there is much to argue about his performance...he was great other than the last 4-5 games...with out him the first 20-30 games this (frank)n team is south of the kings... craw did not play well his first 5-6 games

Agreed. Have to say that CC has rounded back into form just in time for the team to hit a goal scoring problem. Regardless of who is in net, this Hawks team still has a major team D issue.

Bowman need to be fired if that's all he got for lehner. Couldn't get any pics or prospect like Keegan kolsar for the 4th line or rockford

I mentioned this earlier...

Perhaps they want/ed to make a deal work but simply could not commit the money to him right now so they agreed to part ways for now. Give Lehner a chance to win now and gives the Hawks some time to figure out their cap (re-signing RFAs) and move a contract or two out (Maatta, buyout Smith, etc.). Then once July 1st gets under way they can go back to the three year deal they were talking about

That's a very good return for a guy who wasn't gonna stay here. Even better if there are reasonable conditions that can bump that to a second (Flames make the Playoffs and he plays 8 games or something like that)
