Just because he helped win a cup in the past , shouldn't be a basis to bring back a player that is clearly in decline and known that he is in decline or for that matter a player with multiple concussions injuries .
Those are the moves IMO that any GM should step back from and put emotions aside and look at the current aspect , numbers and look elsewhere.

Those moves more times than not don't work out .

The Flames do not have much Cap space (esp after the Forbert acquisition) so they are probably working to include a Cap dump.

Scoring 60 pts once in a career doesn’t make you a 60pt defenseman, it makes you a fluke.

Your right he should have been moved last summer, but something is better than nothing since Chicago took a foolish gamble and this is the end result.
