Or the Canes didn't offer anything of value.
- Elbows15

Which is ridiculous. Lehner gives them a much better chance of making a run to the Cup over whatever they have in house. You easily trade a pick and a prospect to take a shot.

I am glad Bowman isn't giving the guy away for crap. If they don't want to pay to play then screw em, they'll be out in the first round.

Nedeljkovic won goalie of the year in the AHL last season, so there's hope, but slim.
- BINGO!

So did Forsberg at one time.

It's been very successful with him on it.
- boilermaker100

Yes, but this was the constant refrain from the majority of posters here last summer when anyone would dare suggest Stan should sell high on him. Now those same people are beside themselves that he might still be here post-deadline.

Forsberg will become the next Binnington.
- boilermaker100

He is the backup in Charlotte, Nedeljivak(???) is the starter down there.

They are currently not in a playoff position.
- Elbows15

2nd wildcard spot in the East.

Who will possibly QB the PP if Gus is gone?
- Ogilthorpe2

Should give the role to Boqvist and let him roll with it and see if he can fit that going forward.

Rest of the season should be all about evaluating talent to find which pieces can fit long term

I can now see Lehner staying, and at the end of the day signing for what Stan is willing to offer, as Lehner himself prices himself out of the market, that is how we got him as a FA in the first place.

It appears CAR has moved on to bigger and better things:

@PierreVLeBrun
Hearing that Rangers and Hurricanes have been talking about a potential Brady Skjei trade but right now Carolina has cap issues so not clear where this goes...

- Tyler Cameron

Don't they already have 14 Defensemen??? lol

Going for the elite Defense can make an average Goalie better strategy perhaps?

@DarrenDreger
Sounds like a 1st round pick in discussions for Skjei. However, cap issues for the Hurricanes are complicating things.

That 1st could have been yours, Stan.

So far the head scratcher of the day for me is Simmonds to Buffalo, someone explain that one to me?

Despite the "that many hits" comment and the general dislike due to rivalry, I always was intrigued with adding Kesler to the Hawks. More so when he was with Van and not with ANA, but still thought he was a solid all around player. Probably would have been too high priced...

Ryan Kesler said on @Sportsnet that Chicago was on his short list of teams he would’ve waived his NMC for while with Vancouver.

That sure would’ve been interesting. #Blackhawks

Because we know for a fact the offer for Lehner would have been the same?

Nope. They have Hamilton and Pesce out long-term.

They need some help on the backend as they push for the playoffs.

Just not gonna give up a 1st for a rental goalie.

The guy in the front office who plots the course for the club has been adamant for years about not overspending assets on goaltenders.
