Of course I want the Hawks to make moves, but definitely don't want them to get fleeced either. We have seen in the past what happens when Stan is up against the clock.... |

Boys - I can't help but think that we're going nowhere fast until we improve our dzone play. We look like an AHL team in our own zone. Not too mention, its stifling our offense. Anybody else see it? |

That would be the worst case scenario for Hawk fans. - Ogilthorpe2
I am beginning to think the reason the isles did not want him around was his "brutal" honesty in the locker room. turns a lot of players off. |

Erik Gustafsson is still (anxiously) in limbo; told he's waiting to find out where he'll be heading to. |

I'm heading into a meeting in 7 minutes, I fully expect a trade to go down then. - DarthKane
I'd like to say that would be just your luck...but I'm doubting the Hawks do much of anything.
Been saying it for a minute, this deadline SCREAMS to me "We like our team and still feel we can be a Playoff team."
Either because Stan really wasn't getting any good offers for his guys and/or they don't want him making any major moves because he won't be here long term.
However, I fully executed a small deal with like KK going for some AHL forward we've never heard of before and that's it |

Yep. He doesn't have leverage as in years past. Other GMs know it and are playing him like a fiddle. I think this spells the end for Stan. |

hmmm...could it be stan had a deal and the other team pulled out...it makes no sense to sit him on friday...and here we are 3 days later and he is still a hawk... |

So...he HAD leverage in the past when he had to purge half his team due to the cap?
And now, with cap room, DOESNT have any leverage?
I'm so confused at some of these posts
Noon needs to come here and go already |

He got out played. He should've made a deal when he had other teams at the negotiating table. He tried to be too cute. |

I agree Stan created this mess, very few big deals happen in the final hours. Stan once again sat by hoping , pondering instead of being decisive |

There ya go! Commodore not very reliable (although he updated to say Athanasiou was actually going to the Oilers).

So....COL and CAR (for instance) still dont have goaltenders. CAR still needs D
But the Hawks, who arent making the playoffs...are the desperate ones?
I know this...if the Hawks dont make a single move...nothing changes for them. If/when some UFAs wall, Hawks get the space.
Of course it would be amazing to get 1st round picks for everyone...but if the offers aren't there, so be it.
They can let the UFAs walk and entertain trading contracted guys around the draft.
If some of those teams dont upgrade their D and goaltending....another year of their window being open, is closer to being shut

Anything is possible, but Gus was trade chatter early August and it's asinine IMO for Stan to not have moved him when his stock was higher knowing full well Chicago had no intentions of resigning him after this season , due to cap and roster spots.

What was he offered in august that he turned down? |

Bowman's goalie strategy back fired. He should've anticipated the Lehner extension would break the bank and sought a mid season trade. He pigeon toed himself.
The hawks won all three 3 cups with a goalie tandem that was not as skilled as Lehner - Crawford. This team had no business carrying both goalies all year. What a waste of 11million. - catrisc
How did it backfire? He had two above average goalies for the season which cost him nothing in the way of picks or prospects. Both will be UFA at season end which clears more cap space. It's a win even if he can't trade one because he has a ton of options going forward. I applaud Bowman for not giving out too much term or $s to Robin. |
