What I mean is, the fact that Stan hasn't moved either Gus or Lehner yet, could he be working on a larger move (not necessarily involving Sorokin), that brings back a more premium goaltending piece than expected?

I wonder if that had something to do with a Saad trade to the Islanders that included Sorokin, but it may have fallen apart and that's why the shifted to JPP. Now Stan is scrambling to see if he can work something out that meets his satisfaction

This is what I’m hoping for.

Sorokin is just 24 years old, and coincides with the Hawks timeline for contention. Why pay Lehner, or even Craw, when neither guy will likely be here when the team is truly ready to take that step. Paying Lehner $7+ M while they lose is a waste of cap space.

Move Lehner and Craw now, let two kids from Rockford take games the rest of the way to see what we’ve got, and have one of them “compete” with Sorokin in the summer for the starting job.

When you don't have overwhelming players to offer this is to be expected.

Everybody’s so excited about resigning Lehner. I’m with Elbows, trade him and move on.

There are plenty of FA goalies out there.

In addition to CC, there’s Holtby. And two guys that just stoned the Hawks, Markstrom & Khudobin.

Finding goaltenders is the least of Stan’s off season concerns.

He prematurely reported that the Hawks acquired the rights to Ilya Sorokin on Friday. Another Russian KHL reporter initially reported the same but later on the reports were refuted.

Sorokin is widely regarded as the best goalie not in the NHL. He has put up remarkable numbers in the KHL for a couple years in a row now. Would be a big-time addition.

I posted yesterday, per (Dietz maybe) they were waiting to announce today to help Begas out with their ‘cap situation’
