Tyler your such a tease lol. Do you have any info on who the players/teams are? - Taylorst1
Not trying to tease. This is all my contact had. I didn't expect to hear much today but just got that.
I had asked to be kept in the loop but chances are things will happen quicker than he can get back to me.
Buckle up... |

Another thought, AHL playoff rosters get locked today too I believe. So I’d expect Carlsson probably gets sent back down on paper anyhow. I imagine the Hurricanes will have to make some paper moves. - walleyeb1
Yep. Meant to include that in my blog... good catch.
I would expect Carlsson, Boqvist, Highmore and maybe Nylander to be sent down to the AHL (on paper) today so they are eligible for the AHL playoffs. |

I know it is just an Ek rumor, but seriously, is there any better pairing than Subban and the Leafs? That would be gold! |

I'm mentally preparing for Stan's media session this afternoon.

FWIW: Expectation is Chris Kreider will extend with the New York Rangers. |

Trochek 26 years old, signed for 2 more years at 4.75m, one breakout year with 75 points, otherwise averaging about 45 per year. In a trade returns 2 prospects and 2 bottom 6 forwards.
Saad, 27 years old, signed for 1 more year at $6M, consistent 50 point player. What is his worth in a trade? |

Kreider off the board, top 6 forward pool is drying up. Saad is an interesting name that is out there for the #Blackhawks . Lack of options could drive-up price. Considering next season is going to be a cap crunch moving Saad would help. Just under 4 hours until the deadline |
|

If Stan doesn’t get any value from any return on one of the goalie assets that is failure.
If no value is realized through the available cap space, that might also be failure on ownership for not investing into improving future of team, when charging season ticket holders more the past years.
We expect progress on a wasted season. |

It's possible that someone tosses Stan an offer for Saad that he can't resist.
If Pageau netted a 1st, 2nd and a possible 3rd... Saad's return could be big. It's just whether the Blackhawks are willing to part with him. |

Saad to Colorado for Jost, Newhook, and a first. I’m calling my shot. |

Meanwhile, Carolina still hasn't made a move for a goalie or a D. |

If Stan doesn’t get any value from any return on one of the goalie assets that is failure. Are you basing this on all of the other goalies moved for big returns this year?
If no value is realized through the available cap space, that might also be failure Go to cap friendly and sort by "Current Cap Space" (far right column). There 15 teams with more than $10mil in current cap space. So Hawks are just one option to dump salary. |

Here's my dream scenaro. Call me crazy, I've had a lot of coffee this morning. But if the Hawks could find a way to deal some package of Strome and Nylander and a D (Matta/Gus) pick to NYR for Kreider, and another deal of Lehner and a pick to Detroit for Athanasiou (if Detroit can agree on contract prior to trade) lines could look something like this....
Debrincat Toews Kane
Saad Dach Kreider
Caggiula Athanasiou Kubalik
Highmore Carpenter Sikura (?)
Keith Boqvist
Murphy Mitchell
DeHaan Maata
Crawford
Delia/Lankinen
That's... Not bad. Maybe sign someone else for the third line and bump Caggiula down to the 4th? Craig Smith?
Like I said lots of coffee and not much thinking about this before posting 😂. At least seems possible, not sure how plausable. But that looks like a playoff team on paper to me. |

52 with the Hawks and 53 twice with Columbus. 47 points twice. Averages out to 50.
