I give you credit for acknowledging that while you disagreed, the moves have been effective

Yes, because no one of the Flyers has ever been injured.

It's called depth.

Upgrading the healthy scratches. That's an interesting strategy.

I know you're on your game today, but they didn't need to do anything big with the forwards. They have enough talent in the group. An experienced 3C who could score some would have been great, but that's costly, man

Their forwards are good enough. If someone gets hurt who is a defensive player, you insert Thompson if he's not already in the lineup

If an offensive player gets hurt, you hope the light clicks on for Frost and that he earns minutes and produces

No team is perfect, man

Good depth move made by Fletch with the Thompson pickup , upgrade on Bunny in the 4c spot for sure . What this move tells me is that Patrick is likely going to be back this year. If he does make it back , Thompson ends up being a scratch so literally a depth pickup and chances are there will be an injury so smart move. Glad Fletcher didn't overpay for Pageau not worth the price whatsoever.

I think losing Lindblom and Patrick creates some decent size holes. Team has played very well, all the more reason to make an impact trade. You've seen the other 6 teams surrounding the Flyers in the standings make additions to improve.

Thompson is a nice move because of the 55% face off win rate. Right now Giroux is out there for a ton of extra face offs just to try to win them and get off the ice.

Currently:

Coots: 59.4% on 823 face offs
Giroux: 59.0% on 1058 face offs
Laughton 53.0% on 262 face offs
Raffl: 49.7% on 193 face offs
Hayes: 49.3% on 760 face offs

Why trade for a 3c when chances are Patrick will be back. I mean this move really tells me that's the case because we know Fletcher is a GM who always want to give his team the best opportunity to win and compete. I do believe that if Fletcher absolutely knew Patrick wouldn't be back he would've made a bigger move to fill that 3C hole. This Thompson move is solid because it allows you to alot him in at 4C until Patrick gets his conditioning stint over with and then if all goes well Thompson gets scratched , Laughts moves to 4c and Patty slots in at 3c. I commend Fletch for not overpaying for a rental like Pageau.

Man, there's not a single person on this board who has ever seen me ask them to be less aggressive

But this is one of those times where they have to be really careful not to completely (frank) this up

They can't block Frost and if you think Patrick is going to play at some point, this season or next. That means you can't take someone with term. In a perfect world, that hole is filled internally. But they can't just take someone with term

Lindblom is trickier because of all the things he does well, but unless someone takes Ghost -- which leaves you with a hole to fill in the defense corps -- you only have so much room to play with

It sucks that Patrick can't go and that Frost isn't a prodigy. But that's the way it goes

Fletcher made a depth move without costing a high pick or a prospect.

Not as flashy as a big deal but also not as damaging as a big deal would be.

Im neutral on it.

To Sum up the Real Fans of Flyersbuzz

It's more that Giroux gets stuck out there with the fourth line on a double shift and sometimes can't get off the ice, thus ruining his effectiveness for a few extra minutes. Anything to keep Giroux fresh and on the ice with his normal linemates is a plus.

Thompson is a low cost (very) moderate upside kind of guy who can help, some. The playoff competitors in the Metro have made upgrades, at least for this year, but no huge hits' cept for the Penguins. If Patrick can make it back into the lineup, no one knows the impact, it could actually hurt until he's really ready. At this point the only move that would make sense is Ghost for Kapinen. Other than that...stay put and hope what we have is enough. This team has made huge strides!
