You want to trade a 1st, 2nd, and possibly a 3rd for Pageau and then pay him $30 million over 6 years? And not being able to expose him to the expansion draft?

You want to trade a 1st for Coleman? Want to trade a 1st for Goodrow? I didn’t hate the Kovy deal, but NAK has the same amount of goals and points as Kovy did as a Hab. Trade a 1st for Skjei? Trade for Vatanen who hasn’t played in weeks? Trade for three more years of Carter? Simmonds and his 8 goals back?

Teams went crazy. Some really really bad deals.

Yeah nothing there at those prices were worth it for the flyers. Stay the course and grow as a group.

On the Flyers Fix podcast, Fletcher (paraphrasing) said that he sent Farabee down to play and get big offensive minutes and that it’s possible they will need him back at some point this season. On Bunnaman, Fletcher said he did a good job in his recent 4C role but thinks he has a higher upside than a 4th liner. He said they think they can help his development more by giving him a big role there with more than the 8 minutes or so a game.

Condolences to Simmonds. Newark to Buffalo. Talk about two poop hole towns to spend any significant amount of time in.

Seems like a move to make a move on the GMs part. Idk, maybe they think the locker room needs a vet or want to get an extended look before offering him a deal in the summer. Sucks for Simmer that he won’t be playing for a better team the rest of the season tho.

Yeah. I guess they may think he’s worth a look to re sign, but seems weird from a buffa slug perspective.

I would have been fine if fletch had made zero trades, but I like that he helped out the coaches and players to add depth for a run. Keep building and. Hope we win a round. It’s not go time yet but it’s getting close.

I would have given up what we did to get Thompson for Simmonds. Simmonds is still a better player than Thompson, even if we paid Simmonds to sit.

Aw man I was looking forward to Farabee out muscle-ing Tom Wilson in the playoffs.

Seriously, Joel would get killed in NHL playoff hockey right now.

- hereticpride

Farabee isn’t very strong on his skates. At the game I Detroit, I noticed him a number of his times fall on to his knees in transition. I happen to believe that will change but it was one of the disappointments that came with seeing him play live.

I actually do think Pageau is a really good bottom six center and I do think he would have been a good fit here but I wouldn’t have given up what New York did to get him, nor would I have extended him right away. He has the making of a player who might stay good or become Franz Nielsen.

i'd trade a first for coleman in a heartbeat
that deal is good for pageau
1st for goodrow is kind of a stretch but i doubt tampa gets bounced in the first round again

you know like i said we could have dumped some of our players

The playoffs games are more physical than the regular season and injuries usually come into play. Fletcher picked up 2 veterans for the 3rd and 4th lines without giving up the future. Bunny and Farabee will get more ice time in LHV and they can be brought back in case of injury. Fletcher didn't trade Ghost, so that means we have 7 D-men to work with and Friedman in an emergency. I like our present team and I'm glad Fletcher didn't blow the team up just to make a flashy trade. The Flyers need to stay healthy and keep getting points in the standings. Hopefully they get 2nd place in the Metro? It would be nice to have home ice advantage in a playoff series since the Flyers and Hart play so well at home.

There’s a salary cap. Would love simmonds but he’s 5mil when he’s really worth maybe 2mil max at this point in his career

Devils retained half Simmonds salary and probably could have been convinced of more on a count that they’re not going anywhere this season. The 5th round pick the Devils retained was conditional. It might not be one anything.

Especially in the Metro, which is going to help the Flyers significantly in the next few years.
- KGBflyers10

Spot on. I think the arms race that was in the Metro this year with these deadline deals will be very advantageous for the Flyers over the next several. So many teams in this division are giving up future strength to compete now.

Well

Those who worried that fletcher would blow up the rebuild can breath easier. Fletcher made his moves in the offseason and minor moves now but kept the youth intact.

For the folks who wanted to win now, Fletcher also spent to the cap, who he added has worked, overall a really nice job of balancing today and tomorrow

I wouldn’t feel to bad for Simmer, he will get to play playoff hockey over the next 20 games. Keep in mind Buff is chasing the leafs and Panthers, that means they have a shot, a long shot but something to play for is better than nothing

50% is the max a team can retain. The Flyers have no way to fit 2.5 million.

How does pulling Farabee out of the lineup and inserting Nate Thompson make the Flyers better?

Didn't the GM address this yesterday when he specifically talked about sending Farabee down to get him more than 4th line minutes because...and here's the kicker...they might need him later in the season.

Long view it makes the team better, short view playing few minutes per night doesn't hurt Thompson's "development".

Farabee has averaged 14:47 TOI the last 5 games. Nothing close to 4th line minutes.
