I thought the moves today were fine. Surprised they didn’t trade for a depth d instead of Thompson. They must feel real good about Friedman.

The only thing is I don’t like sending farabee down, but he is only 19...he’ll be ok. I think they could use him still

So to clarify, we had to send Joel down to make room for Grant and Thompson under the cap?

I think we could see Farabee struggle down the stretch. He’s not the biggest guy and a full season can be grueling. Add the playoffs which are typically heavier hockey. With Grant it’s actually nice, he happens to have the same amount of points as Farabee. I do think Farabee is called up again though. Not to sound old school rah rah hockey (I’m only 28), but I do like the size added with both guys. I know some laughed at AV or fletcher saying Grant could play 2LW, but if Grant and Hayes can body their way against teams, Konecny could get some serious time and space for himself. I’m not going to complain about tomorrow’s lineup or these trades until we see the product in action. I liked most the summer moves, but had this no complain approach with Hayes , Pitlick , Nisky and Braun. It’s worked out quite well.

No it is always best to complain immediately as soon as the flyers do something you don’t like! Remember the offseason the flyers were going to be awful this year according to some of the clown posters in here. We must always whine and cry like children!

On the Flyers Fix podcast, Fletcher (paraphrasing) said that he sent Farabee down to play and get big offensive minutes and that it’s possible they will need him back at some point this season. On Bunnaman, Fletcher said he did a good job in his recent 4C role but thinks he has a higher upside than a 4th liner. He said they think they can help his development more by giving him a big role there with more than the 8 minutes or so a game.

And hopefully before that happens, we get to celebrate a cup or three.

These are players that you go on and on about how much they stink. So what makes you think they’d have value.

imagine crying about demoting a dude with 7 goals and 20 points.
- Flyers Time

I’d like to keep the kid in the lineup. But it’s not the end of the world to get better and have him get minutes in the AHL.

you really think the flyers stand a chance in a 7 game series against Tampa, Wash, or Boston?
- 2Real

Yes, especially Washington. Their goaltending is horrendous.

I know I got a little pissed off earlier today listening to someone (not on this thread) throw Bunnaman under the bus...worse out to pasture calling him an older prospect...

And Farabee no matter how hockey smart is just 19 and thus not very big or strong.

Aw man I was looking forward to Farabee out muscle-ing Tom Wilson in the playoffs.

Seriously, Joel would get killed in NHL playoff hockey right now.

I think you’d have to have a tremendous bias to not like the way Braun is playing right now. I also think you have to hold onto Ghost and hope he rebounds to finish the year. Maybe explore a trade for Kapanen in the offseason?

What does trading Raffl and adding Laughton to a deal do for the Flyers other than give off a sell mentality?

You’re talking about basically ripping the team apart at the deadline. A team by all accounts that is tremendously close.

So I ask you again, what could they have reasonably done in their current standing and with their current cap?

No. I’m also not Trochek fan. Good speed, turnover machine, and Quenneville couldn’t wait for him to be off that team. And they’re left with two more holes to fill then.

That’s the definition of making a trade just to make a trade.

You want to trade a 1st, 2nd, and possibly a 3rd for Pageau and then pay him $30 million over 6 years? And not being able to expose him to the expansion draft?

You want to trade a 1st for Coleman? Want to trade a 1st for Goodrow? I didn’t hate the Kovy deal, but NAK has the same amount of goals and points as Kovy did as a Hab. Trade a 1st for Skjei? Trade for Vatanen who hasn’t played in weeks? Trade for three more years of Carter? Simmonds and his 8 goals back?

Teams went crazy. Some really really bad deals.

I don’t hold it against teams that “go for it”, if they legit think they have a shot.

But we can’t have it both ways. The people here that crush Homer and the way he operated, are now crushing Fletcher for not doing precisely what they despised in Homer. You can’t have it both ways.
