I’m happy they didn’t do anything drastic. The team looks good right now. You know I’ve been down on the coaching choices for a decade and a half. Vigneault was the key signing this year for me. Of all the players moving at the deadline Pageau intrigued me. After he was moved I’m glad we weren’t involved.

Teams can win a cup. This is as close to that kind of team as they've had in a decade. I can watch entire games without kicking a case of beer. It’s the end of the season and I’m actively looking for tix.

You're absolutely right. I'm hoping this is a classic case of "overloading" and the players don't find any chemistry and hurts the team somehow. You can't hide bad goal tending for long either, despite the emergency goalie win lol

After Ek posted the rumor that Kane was available, the CBJ blogger changed his title to "Patrick Kane CLICKBAIT" and was subsequently removed.

So we can now look at he adds, consider the talent and slot in which they play. Then compare the Flyers position players against our competition's position players. The Flyers have 6 pretty solid D, while other teams upgraded are they far and away from the Flyers top 6 now. We can do the same for the 12 forwards, yes there have been upgrades, more talent going to teams that are right there with the Flyers already. Then add in the long look, what is coming in the next 24 months. For the Flyers you have Frost, Farabee and Patrick lets say. I think the Flyers will have plenty of options down the lineup, there will be more Pitlick and NAK types.


Was there a player that moved today that would have made the Flyers a cup contender? Was there a combination of moves that would have? I think Fletcher did the right thing, add some grit, keep the chemistry the same and move forward.

2010 and 2012 were good teams. Contenders. I actually liked our team in 2014.

This was the big one for me. Guys like Pageau and Kovalchuk may have helped them get into the playoffs and be a tougher out, but no one was a true game changer. I would have liked to try and do what Carolina did with Trocheck, though,

That 2010 team underachieved for most of the season and rode the duo of Michael Leighton and Brian Boucher to the Cup final. It was a fun team, and Chris Pronger was better than any player on the current team, but they were a case of being a bubble team and riding unsustainable goaltending on the way to the SCF. Again, they were fun, I liked them, but they just got hot at the right time (and were one OT goal away from losing in Round 2).
