Serious question about Nate Thompson because I really havent seen all that much of him the last few years... is it safe to assume that he doesnt have the wheels he once had? He was never a great player by any stretch of the imagination, but there was a time that he played the game at pace.

AV says, as you’d expect, Thompson is 4C. A little less certain on Grant’s role. May be at wing. Was interesting that he said the established players here wanted to see the front office step up and add without taking players off the roster and that happened.

Some people might not like this, but I get it. It's Big Boy time, and AV's one of those coaches who is no-nonsense about what he wants from the bottom of his lineup

His teams in Vancouver were always a little tougher than they got credit for being

A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for 2 months JG Pageau until we resign him long-term based on a career year that we could have signed him to on July 1st.

AV was pretty definitive that Thompson steps in 4C. Said Grant most likely starts on a wing but can play any forward position.

The thing is, who sits? Farabee and NAK have been playing well lately, and they shouldn't be rewarded by being scratches.

Yeah, it’s a slight improvement and with very little cap room to work with, it’s all they could really do.
- BiggE

I think it's more than a slight improvement. This gives them a player that they can use more situationally and possibly take some D zone draws to allow Couturier to play more in better offensive situations. Bunnaman couldn't be used like that and did not contribute on special teams.

Likely one of NAK or Farabee, which I am strongly against.

It's interesting that Carcidi said the players wanted this and that vets think our chemistry will be better. Seems Issac is classically adding his own poop

the team that lost out to the Bruins was nasty. if they hadnt run out of defensemen, they win that Cup. but they just couldnt absorb the loss of Hamhuis, the suspension of Rome, and then Edler and Erhoff playing with broken fingers and separated shoulders. Also, Keith Ballard was an absolute turnstile in that series, IIRC.

I won't lie and say that I've paid much attention to his team or his skating this season, but one thing I feel comfortable saying is Thompson is one of those guys who is really smart and always on the right side of the puck, with a really good motor

AV hasn't changed over the years, to me. He's one of those guys who just can't stand it when you get beat because you didn't do what you were supposed to do. Sometimes you get beat because a team is better than you. But I always thought AV was a coach who just wants his depth players to play the right way all the time, down the stretch

I'm all for anything that hurts the Bruins, but that Rome hit was way late.

Let me guess, you and the rest of the "Real fans" will be telling us how much the Flyers still suck when the TDL is over right?

Nope. But if I see one of Farabee or NAK sitting in favor of Nate (frank)ing Thompson I might chime in.

Yea have to see how this plays out. Not sure why they need two centers. Could move Laughton to wing I guess, which I like. He's better at wing. However that mean someone else has to sit other than Bunnaman.
