Wouldn't be an overly bad move for a team that is out of it.

That way he doesn't play with them this season and maybe help ruin their draft position.

- GreatGigInTheSky

That’s what I was thinking. If he’s traded it’s most likely to a team that doesn’t need him this year. He’s useless to the leafs this year and they’re going to have trade him or kapanen for cap space anyways.

We need to get over the cap hits when it doesn't suit your argument.

If Florida had the cap space to sign Bobrovsky, then that's their situation. If Bob rebounds and has 6 good seasons after this disastrous one, it'll be a genius move. If Bob never rebounds, it's Florida's problem to deal with.

Self assessment doesn't work when you're looking at someone else.

We have a lot of money tied up in just a few players. If those players aren't executing, then that's OUR problem to deal with.

- Monkeypunk

We have a lot tied up in superstars. That's ok. Pay your stars, don't overpay for supporting players.

Leaf fans think the key to winning is to not give 22 year-old superstars a lot. Instead overpay for 4th liners to "Balance" the lineup...

Washington trades a 3rd for Kovy?

Wow. Good job Montreal!

- Hockey_Reverend

Hey, they got a 3rd for free basically. They are accumulating picks while we are giving them away like hallowe'en candy.

We need to get over the cap hits of our players. They are producing at elite levels. Our main competitor's for the playoffs signed a 32 year-old goalie at 10 million per with a sub 900 save %.
- RogerRoeper

We have different definitions of "elite".

As bad as Andersen was during that game, there was a golden opportunity to score 10 to 12 goals on a team using a 42 year old zamboni driver for the last half of the game. Two of three shots directed at the net in the second period went in! A couple of slow dribblers towards the net would have been fine. The problem was the Leafs as a team were unwilling and unable to float a few towards the net. Didn't need the Harlem Globetrotters making highlight reel passes. Needed a curling rock shovelled towards the net and then have a couple of guys sweeping

and Matthews is +17
A huge difference. i was always on the side of Matthews being the better player, but the gap has very much widened this season

- senstroll

I felt that Marner was the Leafs best player. Matthews has certainly passed him this year.

60 goals, 100 points isn't elite? He's also 3rd in takeaways in the NHL

Are you really that daft? No body said over pay the bottom six. People are saying pay money to get defense.

I know. That’s teh point. Washington could have hade him for nothing a few weeks ago? And if they think this is a good move, good luck with that...

Montreal retained half of his salary.. Washington is paying Kovalchuk $75,000 for the rest of the season.

I have been thinking more about that game... up until MArazek got injured teh team was playing all right. It’s almost like after that they were in shock. Like when you witness a car accident. Your knees go weak and you are in a daze. They couldn’t seem to get anything back. I dont want to excuse them, but that’s what it seemed like. it would be silimair to seeing a player collapse on teh ice (Jbo) and then trying to play. I think it was shock...

They seem incapable of playing a dump-and-chase style with F1 and F2 on the forecheck when they're getting trappy mctrapface'ed by stingy teams.
