of the bowel kind perhaps?
- Pat1993

My sources say that could also be a possibility but see it more as a plan "number 2" more than anything

Lots of buyers, teams buy just to get in now

And with all the injuries around the league, I expect lots of movement in the next 20 some hours

- obie

We will see others moves. Canes is an obvious example.

My point is that some teams might be done already or moslty done as they got their guy ahead of the deadline.

Of course we will see some minors moves like Thompson for a late pick as well.

Hard to say what Kovalchuk will fetch.

he's just trying to start a flame war between the leafs and scabs fans in his comments.

because why else would a leaf hater tweet that?

also i think fido has been proven wrong with the elite thing

- mr.peanut

so now you're convinced the leafs are missing the playoffs, and have fully jumped on the Alexis "Prochain Dieu Québécois du Hockey" Lafrenière bandwagon?

Okay which one of you posted this on hfboard?

To Caps
Carey Price (50% retained)

To MTL
Ilya Samsonov

Rationale: Caps will have cap space issues next season and Samsonov will break the bank if he plays well. Price gets a change of scenery and is a proven elite goalie and they get him at a discount. MTL gets a young possible future superstar goalie, as Price isn't posting stats he once did.

This temporarily frees up cap space for the Habs. It also gives the Caps a proven goalie without the risk of a 10 mill contract for Samsonov if he performs well.

Could be some conditions on Samsonov resigning so MTL isn't left to dry if he doesn't re-sign.

not sure either, I think MB has a specific price in mind, and plans on signing the guy for a one year contract if he doesn't get what he wants. Unless the offers are ridiculously low he should just trade him.

mon ami, you think I came up with that elite thing myself??

you probably didn't readr any of Leafers' posts last summer.
Kerfoot was a Selke nominee, Rielly was a Norris nominee, Leafs were cup favorites even thougb they haven't won a series in over 15 years, there was not cap issues what so ever, Andersen was bettter than Price for half the price, all contracts to RFAs were decent, the Kadri trade was a steal what a bum that was, Marner is elite, Tavares is elite and hold on to your hat.... Matthews is generational!
the list never ends.

you'll find humility goes a long way when you suck for decades.

one thing we can agree on, your Zamboni driver is elite.

Rumor has it Habs made an offer to him.

If he's not signed in a few hours just trade him for the best offer and move on.

really, do we know the details? I hope it's just for a year... If he made an offer I guess it means other teams weren't willing to give a 2nd anymore for his services

hmm nothing but jokes

so instead of lying because I now assume most of your examples are. Practice what you preach with humility because 30 years seems like decades too

Talked about what a Kovalchuk extension in Montreal might look like. 1 year...likely base salary of $3.5 that can climb to $5 mil with bonuses. Very Jagr-like. Parameters being discussed. Trade still a strong option, but extension talks ongoing. - dreger

To be honest, the guy was a real pro about it. Must be hard to come in like that and not having a nervous breakdown.

Canes played very well in front of him but still.

you will do no such tarnishing to our beloved "ti-gars de chez nous" and his profound "racines québécoises", as the habs will win the lottery, and Guy Nantel will show us the way to sovereignty.

thank you sir

so it would potentially be 5 mil in Kovy's pockets, with a 3.5 cap hit? wouldn't be a terrible deal, although I'm really skeptical about the pace he'll be able to maintain over 82 games next year
