What was the Garden chanting towards the end of the game? Don't know if you answered that on the other blog.

Someone said on Twitter it might have been re-sign Kreider

I think signing kreider (if we do) to anything more than a 5 year contract will kill us. He’s never been this good and based on that I assume it won’t continue post contract if we sign him
- Mtlca66

I totally agree with you. Doesn't anyone here remember the last 6+ years? All of us complaining that Kreider is a beast when he's on, but totally invisible when he's not? And his inconsistency is just maddening? Hell, everyone was saying the exact same thing this season until about 2 months ago.

This is his contract year. I just don't think you will get this kind of consistent play from him going forward. Just my view, but I think you have to trade him.

I know that you want to keep Kreider ---you have clearly stated your position on him for quite some time now. But how can you possibly justify offering him an 8 year ( EIGHT YEAR! ) contract? In the salary cap era that is just madness!

We gave Panarin, who is basically 6 months younger only a 7 year deal. Panarin will get consideration for the Hart this year. Kreider is not nearly as good but you want to hitch your horse to his cart for that long?
How many younger players will the Rangers have to pass on because they tied so much money to CK20 for so long? The average career of an NHL player is just over 5 years. Do you really think Kreider will have a 17 year career? Not sure that you're thinking this one through...

I agree with you TommyG. I just think the contract will hamstring the organization as I stated before in the last blog.

I doubt CK20 takes discount. Shatty took a discount and look what happened to him, the kid from SJ took a discount, think he is regretting it now. These guys need to max their earning potential, I dont blame them either.

Panarin at 12, Trouba at 8, Zib in 2 years will be at 8-9, CK20 at 7 Shady or ADA at 5 Igor will be at least 8 in 3 yrs also. 48 million for 6 players is suicide.

21 games left, need to go 15-6 to hit 100 PTS which I think *may* get you into the playoffs. 16-4 to be safe.

I just keep going back to, NYR will not get back a player who is on same level as Kreider, and it will be a loss of one of the few remaining home grown vets. I don't give a crap about his contract 7 years from now. With cap increases, it wont be an albatross

That's a line from Arrested Development.
If you haven't seen that show, do yourself a favour!!! No idea how that show wasn't on for 10 seasons.

you sound like your panicking on your 1/2 ass theories of cap issues inyears ...
cmon ,jump on the big blue train to the P O's ..no ones gettig off palyers included ,itstime you swallow your words (since you swallow ... ) and just say win streaks to Po's dont happen often ,magical is what we watch for ... this could be special , after the stand pat & maybe ADD not subtract ( se 4th liner or top 6 winger ) to add depth needed for a run at the prize ... Who is going to trade for Skjei and then have a spot to protect him in the expansion draft? There's only 3 or 4 teams that can even do that. I don't see it happening unless it's a blockbuster. Just my 2 cents.

There are desperate needy teams who will take risk on a young defenseman. I think he can be moved easier then people think

Agreed. He's got all the tools. Change of scenery could be only thing he needs. Fair contract too.
