Very good point. Unfortunately i think Botts is paralyzed and won't make any trades because of the 2% chance we can make the playoffs. He should be dumping all of our UFA's and EROD. This is called good asset management. Looking forward to the presser at 3 pm local time explaining why he didn't make any moves.

Sure. But Jason Botterill's better?

Despite his faults, I'm certain (as he's mentioned) he focuses on the long term vision of his team, and isn't taking little 5 game samples as to where his team is at, as far as competing for the playoffs and cup. He can't simply trade away guys or add guys simply based on 'well, we're almost in the playoffs!'

I would say, though, I think it'd be foolish to trade some UFAs for the sake of trading them, for a couple 3rd and 4th round picks. Some folks think, just give a team like 3 thirds for a first!

Those picks will be used to bring in more Sheary's and Vesey's. I suspect this is why Jason really hasn't moved. There haven't really been any core shaking trades this year. Rentals for picks has really been the name of the game. And based on the UFAs on this team, I honestly fail to see how shedding them will truly help us.

*exception being fantasy gerbe island where we package Vesey, Sheary and a 3rd for Trocheck, then Risto for Huberdeau.

I'm expecting nothing, and if anything happens it will a bonus.
