My prediction for tomorrow's presser after the TDL.....
Jason Botterill - "We didn't make any moves because we feel very comfortable with this team and we like their compete level".
Something to that effect. |

Teams seem more willing to spend at this years deadline...
So i think we’ll see him sell off a couple pieces at least
But I’m not expecting anything major |

Bad move.
The league is heading quickly towards paying your top 6 at mega contract values, largely at the expense of the bottom 6.
Sabres setting themselves up to go in the wrong direction by signing these guys to expensive contracts relative to their position.
Sure, it may only be $1m each...but do that for 4 guys, add Okposo at $6m and Johansson at $4.5m...you quickly get to overpaying your bottom 6 by $10m.
Bad - IonSabres
I'm with you. It's easy to say bring them back at team-friendly 1 or 2 year deals. I don't think that's realistic.

The odds of making the playoffs are just as likely as us winning the lottery. They would have to be nearly perfect and we one of the toughest remaining schedules in the NHL.
The logical move would be to sell off everything, however that would piss off the “win now” supporters and probably a majority of that locker room.
I would like to see Botts sell off the impending UFA’s but make a move for a forward with term.
I’m expecting an extremely slow day. |

I don't think Botts cares about pissing anybody off. The decisions he makes are his and his alone. If he wants to stand pat, so be it. But we should not hear that he did anything out of fear of upsetting anybody. At some point, his moves and non-moves have to be his own responsibility. |

Mentioned Larsson comps earlier. Feel free to check on your own, but I see 2.5-3m. - Lunaion
I'd extend Larsson at a max of $2.5M per for 2 years.
I agree with our fearless blogger that I would not extend Girgensons. |

I agree with your earlier comment that Hutton alone has probably cost the Sabres a real shot at the playoffs. His brutal stretch where he couldn't stop a beach ball cost them a pile of points.

We just don’t have any UFAs that ppl are desperate to get
So any guys we do sell off,
we are probably just looking at mid-late round picks
Teams in the East might be done
Tampa & the Caps how’ve zero wiggle room left
Pitt seems done
Maybe Boston makes a move now that they got Backes off their books?
Nobody else in the East should be buying,
Bc one of those 4 teams are going to the Cup
The West is still pretty wide open though
So maybe we’ll see those teams buying |

And he is certainly not making or making a move because of everyone’s opinion on HockeyBuzz.com
Please don’t get bent because JB did not do what you wanted him to do or did what you did not want him to do.
I made a Sega 94 trade today sending Zemgus to Toronto for Marner, straight up. Why can’t JB do this stuff? It is so easy. |

Not sure if you're speaking to me specifically or in a "you people" kind of way. I don't think I've expressed a desire for a particular trade or signing.
Personally, I don't have any expectations for the TDL or offseason. I'm interested to see what happens, but minor move(s) seems most likely. I guess I'd be mildly surprised if he traded the 1st. |

I am throwing out my opinion that, making a move addresses many pieces that may or may not line up. I am not addressing any one thought but this board has a cumulative dismissal of inactivity based on a comparison of trades to date.
It is what it is. I am not a JB fan but I am pretty sure he does not wake up every day saying “how can I f this job and team up”. |

They both can go its time to get rid of that old core and finally build this one |

The UFAs on this team could only be of mild interest to a playoff team. So minimal compensation coming back there. The offseason could see more impactful maneuvers, but even that is far from a certainty.
I'd expect JB to address his RFAs in some way, as he's stated previously. It's also possible that the late season success this team has enjoyed convinces JB to bring back a significant portion of the UFAs as not to upset team chemistry. |

Another, everyone can go. What do you do to address moving forward?
I do not know what could be available For the Sabres. My question is not a dig, it is a true question. Earlier I proposed a second line of Mitts, Cozens and Skinner and I was summarily dismissed based on it not working this year - Mitts as a 2nd liner. Therefore, it will never work, allegedly/apparently, errr something. |

Interesting. I agree. Winning 5 out of the last 6 kinda screws up the notion that we suck, something awful. |
