If they don't trade the bottom players because of the 2 wins they're fools - gerbe75pts
The reason to not trade Girgs & Larsson is bc they play well for us in a difficult role
That’s worth a lot more going forward than the 4th round picks we could get for them |

I’d sell Vesey, Sheary, Girgensons, and any RD and try to resign 22.
My prediction for tomorrow is Zemgus Girgensons gets a WAY better return than anyone expects - sbroads24
I’d only trade Girgs or Larsson if they get a 2nd
And that would be very surprising to me
Also, even if we do trade them,
I really hope we try to bring them back in the
offseason
I also like Lazar 4th line / extra forward guy |

You may have missed the earlier discussion, but are you willing to pay the LOG line a combined $11M per annually (Girgensons and Larsson @ $2.5M and Okposo at $6M)?
I'm not. |

What would you offer 22 to keep him hitting the market? When you start talking 3+ years and 3m+, I get really nervous. - Lunaion
2mil, 2years
Will go to 3years to get the deal done
He & Girgs have been good, but not $3mil good
We don’t need to get crazy here either

Buffalo squeaks in to 3rd place in the Atlantic
Game 6 1st rd in BUF
3-3 / 2 min left
TBL D-zone faceoff win - Zach Bogosian rims puck around the boards. Dahlin keeps it in, whips the puck to Eichel. Jack skates around Bogosian and hits Olofsson for a tap in to win the series.

The Canadiens have acquired the Washington Capitals' third-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, in return for forward Ilya Kovalchuk.

Holy hell Kovalchuk and Ovechkin.
Please play them on the same line. |

We are stuck with Okposo
I’m not going to not bring back Larsson & Girgs bc Okposo is signed to a bad deal
LOG line that we KNOW is GOOD for $11mil
Vs
Okposo with 2 others at $9mil...
but we have no idea if that $9mil line can play even remotely close to as well as the LOG line
I’ll spend the extra $2mil to have one of the best defensive lines on the league
MORE THAN WORTH IT

Not kidding when I say this, the Habs retained 50 percent on Kovalchuk’s league minimum salary and cap hit. So about 76k. Every dime counts for the cap-challenged Captials.
Wow on retaining salary. |

Mentioned Larsson comps earlier. Feel free to check on your own, but I see 2.5-3m.

It gets uncomfortable fast. 3+ years at that money for someone who's most likely at his peak.

Bad move.
The league is heading quickly towards paying your top 6 at mega contract values, largely at the expense of the bottom 6.
Sabres setting themselves up to go in the wrong direction by signing these guys to expensive contracts relative to their position.
Sure, it may only be $1m each...but do that for 4 guys, add Okposo at $6m and Johansson at $4.5m...you quickly get to overpaying your bottom 6 by $10m.

I like the players in their roles,
but i don’t wanna crazy overpay either for them
If we can just get some middle6 scoring & consistent goaltending, this team can start to grow with all the talented youth we have |

He's a nice offensive player with some upside still, but he's got exactly 1 30 goal season (no other years over 20), 1 year with 50+ points (no other over 33 points), he's a -45 this year, and he's not even a center (spending the majority of the year at RW).
Yikes.
Is he REALLY "all that"? I don't see it. - Powerslave
-45 is not good even for +/- being a sh¡t stat, but the Red Wings are -108. -108! |

Yeah, but you’re exaggerating your point a bit
By the time Mitts, Cozens, Olofsson & Dahlin even are getting major spikes to their Cap hits,
MoJo & Okposo are off the books |
