Our defense was absolute trash tonight. Don't even talk about the goaltender. - fifty__missions
Yes they were absolute trash, not just the defense either. The majority of the forwards were complete trash.
It's absurd he had to face 50 shots.
He also let in two really soft goals, without those the team is trying to tie a 4-3 game in the end.
He is far from the only human to be in a tough situation they shouldn't have to be in, it does not grant him immunity. |

Defense sucked but honestly the wingers were way way worse.
The Leafs played with very little urgency until they suddenly realized they were running out of time.
Staal worked over Tavares most of the night and Aho/Slavin did a decent job on Matthews, but the wingers spent a LOT of time just waiting for somebody else to get them the puck. It was kind of sad.
D can't do much when they don't get much puck support.

Lot’s of love in here now. - Woderwick
it is hilarious.
1) some blaming the goalie... he was only able to stop six breakaways - ONLY 6
2) no one is blaming Willy... man he looked good tonight... several terrific fly-bys and those one-footed coasters back to the bench were awesome
3) Marner looked really good with the drop back pass on the powerplay... that everyone across Canada knows is coming and the behind the back passes are great
4) Barrie and Sandin literally getting tossed off the puck each shift... maybe don't pair them together... maybe?
5) and the 40M$ powerplay... they were AWESOME
but Dubas.. he's golden.
and focussed on making Marlie trades.
all is good
Personally - I"m going with Liljegren... he was invisible tonight. And Rielly... if that lazy so-and-so hadn't gotten himself injured...
simply can't rely on these guys. |

So was the 2 minutes for piledriving Barrie headfirst into the boards. - fifty__missions
Watch it again.
Svech is actually trying to avoid Barrie in the moment he loses his footing. There's no shove and the players aren't facing the same direction. |

They just can't understand the game well enough to realize what's really happening.
Leafs with 19 giveaways (that's probably half of the real number) and allowing 47 shots, 16 in the 1st, 21 in the 2nd. That's a travesty of a team effort playing what should have been a tired team.
But blame Andersen. |

The most gut wrenching part of the game was seeing how structured the Canes play. They allowed the Leafs very little. Two PP’s in the 1st and I don’t think they got a shot. But the canes in the Leafs zone got setup no problem. I honestly thought the Leafs were a better team than they are, so tonight was humbling. |

You do realize when someone says something akin to 'fred needs to be better to', it doesn't mean that they are putting everything on the goalie... Right?
He is not immune anymore than anyone else on the team and is allowed to be held to a standard.
I can't get why people seem to take it square in the (frank)in butt hole when people mention him along with everyone else. - joel878
well... its does get just a little boring and void of content when that is the opening salvo in literally every comment they make.
yes, it would have been wonderful if Anderssen managed to make 51 saves tonight instead of 45 or whatever.
He shouldn't be immune when he shyts the bed.. but at least he actually played tonight.
There's seriously 9-10 guys tonight who were complete passengers.
I know I know... now you'll switch to critiquing Gauthier.... man he was bad tonight. And Llijegren was terrible too. |

Nobody, literally NOBODY, is blaming Andersen single-handedly for this loss and every time one of you blithering idiots say that's what others are doing, it's making you look more and more stupid than you already are. And for you specifically, that's quite a feat. |

6 breakaways and 50 SOG vs a team playing the second game of a back-to-back,in front of thier own fans.
I think this is the worst loss I’ve ever seen. |

Leafs are certainly more talented, but it's rare to see the Canes get outworked.
Probably the most underrated thing about Aho. He HATES to lose and busts his ass all over the ice. Not a big dude but he's going to do whatever he can to get that puck off of you. |

It would appear that Andersen and Tavares have been negatively effected by the coaching change. Hard to blame them. |
