ozighanov was right in his assessment of most of the team being a bunch of babcock and dubas ball lickers and that's why he wanted to leave. the team was better when kadri, brown, zaitsev, hainsey, ennis, marleau, gardiner and ozighanov were on it, they had a much better season last season then they are having now.
the leafs then went ahead and replaced all those players with barrie, kerfoot, ceci, mikheyev, spezza, holl, engvall, timashov and they have gone backwards instead of having improved to inch closer to a cup contending team.
laugh all you want, this team is worse than last season's and you were all warned of this before the season started.
4 years is an insanely large amount of time with variables nobody can foretell, it's not do or die, it's management. They can re-do the entire defense next year to either good or bad results. They have the forward depth to make some moves...plus they can make a decision on goaltending. It's not now or never, it's now or another shot for 4 more years at the very least. - AdamFrench
cap space won't be there to buy big name defensemen, so they are going to have to get better from within and bargain bin patchwork a better defensive team for next season at least. 4 years isn't that long because you will know after 3 if matthews wants to re-sign in toronto and if he doesn't you have to trade him for a huge return with 1 year left on his deal or he walks and you get nothing back.

For someone who's not a leaf fan you sure do pay a lot of attention to the leafs.

lol why did this bold? - AdamFrench
i have, they have like 10 mil in cap space next season, how are they going to revamp a defense for 10 mil? dermott needs a new deal on top of that, playing sandin and liljegren next season and the leafs will have a similar problem they're having this season which is too many of the same type of defenseman. small pmds that aren't strong defenders playing on their back end.
