Ah Dreger said it was a mistake, no trade. That would've been a headscratcher by the Isles - vlongo4419
Also, not very Lou like to trade player rights. |

I might be late to the rumor, but Friedman mentioned Vancouver might consider Julolevi, for Simmonds. How fast can Fitz say YES? |

It was reported last night that Vancouver couldnt make it work cap-wise, so its off for now. They could re-visit it closer to Monday if we dont already move Simmonds though |

I don't think moving Simmonds first is the real problem here...
More likely Vancouver wanted cap help and NJ wasn't going beyond retaining 50%; meaning taking back a contract.
I'm betting the Wayne Train stays parked in Newark Penn Station for the rest of year. |

Yeah it was likely either we wouldnt take back one of their bad contracts or we wouldnt retain a certain % of salary(50% is max) and Van literally couldnt make it work. They have 7.1M in cap space, and need 5.9M available to activate Boeser off LTIR in case he comes back before the regular season ends, which its being reported is likely. The cap isnt an issue in the playoffs but if he comes back before the regular season ends they need to be cap compliant.
But they werent the only team in on Simmonds, apparently 2-3 other teams were in as well. So he could still get moved |

First, thanks all for the additional color, I understand the situation much better. If we can get decent value for Simmonds, I think its worth a shot. Owners say they are committed, so bite the $ bullet here for the future, assuming its not a long term commitment. |

Canucks just have way too many poopty contracts, so they can't take on more salary to make another move. Sutter, Beagle, Roussel are all not very good and asking us to take one back would mean that we'd need to get a premium asset back, especially if we'd also have to retain 50% on Simmonds. It doesn't make a lot of sense for Vancouver at that point for a rental. |

Vegas just dumped Eakin for next to nothing. Wonder what trade they're clearing room for |

Was just about to say this. They've been linked to Vatanen for awhile now, even after they got Martinez |

Just removes Boston as a trade partner. He could still be on the move.
Also this return for Kase is uh low... - Pomegrant
I think if he Rangers re-sign Kreider someone will step up for Palms, if not Kreider might be more attractive for less value. |

I wouldn't be surprised if we have a quiet trade deadline
I don't think palms will be traded because not sure a team will give a deal the Devils can't refuse
Simmonds even at 2.5 may be a hard sell
Vats I am 50/50 on, who knows if teams will low ball since he is out and is a UFA and the devils may want to to to sign him to an extension
Teams may look at wood instead of Simmonds
But not expecting much - dmarsden2988
Vats and Simmonds are almost certain to be traded. Palms is 50/50. |

Yeah i agree on Vats/Simmonds. I originally said its like 90% that Palms stays but im gonna lower that to 50/50 now, theres been way too much noise on him today alone and if it gets to be a true bidding war like Coleman was, and/or Kreider comes off the market, i could see someone offering a package that Fitz likes |

Simmonds still feels like a maybe to me because his value just can't be that high. Vats is definitely going because I get the feeling Fitz talked to Vats camp and they're going to free agency. |

I'm 50/50 on him, and not sure if you guys follow IncarceratedBob or if you think he's legit, but he's had some good info and broken stuff in the past and he just tweeted this

*NHL Trade Rumor*
Source: Bruins and an unnamed West-Conference team are heavily involved in trade talks with NJ Devils in regards to Kyle Palmieri -- these talks are fluid (not done yet) teams are still bidding #IB
Also, pretty safe to assume the west team is Calgary, as their name has been out there a lot surrounding palms today. Some speculation it could also be Vegas or Colorado and not Calgary though |

The rumors earlier today were that we were looking to trade Hall to Calgary but that didn't work out. Maybe whatever happens it makes more sense to send Palmieri there, but Hanafin was apparently what the Flames were offering which is a hard pass for me. |

I'm with you there, im not a fan of Hanifin at all. He's still young and can turn it around but his first change of scenery hasnt worked out well either. H'ed fit into our top 4 as an upgrade but thats not saying much considering the lineup on D we throw out there on a nightly basis |

Bingo wins again, and move into a playoff spot! Senn stopped 47 or 48 shots in a 2-1 over Charlotte |

Unless Kreider agrees to a 2M deal, that just can't happen. It's highly likely that the Rags move Kreider and DeAngelo, 2 of their more impressive players. That Shatts buyout is really crippling them. They will likely accumulate some nice draft selections. |

I understand the scepticism, but somewhere out there is a GM willing to take 50% retained Simmonds, pro-rated for a cap hit of about 750k as a depth player. I doubt we get better than a 5th, but I say just use that pick as a gamble and draft the biggest goalie you can find with it. Its a shot in the dark, which is still better than the "wayne train" |

If we can clear the roster spot for one of the young kids to play the rest of the season, it's a win in my eyes. |

Yes for the big club but less for the B-Devs chasing a playoff spot.
Not that I care. |
