No. The year we sign jvr to me was a little early in the rebuild. He is a good player. With the rebuild it didn’t seem like the best fit to sign at the time. - Peter Richards
I don't know what that means. They had just had a 98 point season and had tons of cap space. Their 2nd best LW was Lindblom who had only played 27 games. |

Before Gostisbehere was injured, he was not a 7th defenseman. - MJL
He’s lost his place. Injury can do that. Surely he’ll get some games when he comes back (if he’s not moved). I would be surprised if he dresses a majority over hagg or if he’s in the lineup come playoff time |

At this point hagg is playing better and brings more stability than ghost has at anytime this year, and is better suited for the 3rd D pairing alongside Braun. - Just5
Both statements are incorrect in my opinion. Ranks right up with only holding serve with the win last Tuesday.

Hayes has been on the ice for 28 GF at 5on5 and 45 GA.
JVR's 5on5 ratio since he came back is 73 GF and 74 GA.
JVR is scoring at 2.09 P/60 at 5on5. Hayes is at 1.33 - Feanor
I don't think those stats tell the whole story. You're saying you'd rather have JVR over Hayes at their respective deals? If you could only pick one, who'd you keep? |

my guess is that Ghost gets in when AV thinks it is the right match up or the Flyers lose. Ghost will stay in if he plays well. Ghost clearly brings an element to the game that few do, when he is on his game. |

Sorry but he hasn't been this at all this season. He's 100% been more engaged, defensively responsible and physical this season. He easily has 35 goals last year (imo) if he doesn't get hurt first week of the season - arichardson22
It's really a credit to the coaching staff and of course the player. Players who cheated offensively and played poorly defensively have bought into how the coaching staff wants to play. They even have Voracek backchecking hard and playing responsibly defensively.

How many games have ghost and hagg played this year and how many points do they each have? I’m curious as to their PP time also.
There’s evidence in numbers but I like the eye test even better. Hagg has even cut down on his nonsense icings |

After this year, JVR cause there's less term and no NMC. |

OMG. I just saw that sequence with Gerbe from last night. The smallest player in the NHL putting players on their ass. Sanheim got manhandled by him. - PLindbergh31
To be fair players didnt get out of the way and then Sanheim fell because he slipped on a glove that was on the ice |

I'm just happy for Chuck Fletcher, after all of the insane criticism he took for doing his job in trying to make the team better - AllInForFlyers
Up to this point, everything Fletch has done has turned up roses. And the cupboard still remains mostly untouched. And the wellspring of forward talent is starting to trickle in.
Hayes was/is the biggest risk that Fletch took over the summer, but NP and Oskar missing significant time delayed any potential risk of that signing for the time being. Oskar was on pace for a TK-like deal... that would have put them in a bit of a salary pinch this offseason. Now the worry gets put off until 2021 when Sanheim and Hart negotiations begin. Hayes has mostly played well, but it still remains to be seen whether he was worth it or not. |

I mean not every pick is going to hit, look at morin, rubstov.
Even laughton to an extent who is a sub 30 point guy a year. I remember the comparisons to mike richards when he got drafted lolol yea right. - Bryz's Buyout Fund
Laughton's ES point output for a bottom 6 player has been strong. Last year he put up 30 ES points.

didn't say they would, said that he has played his way into one, meaning a player that has value in a trade, he does have potential upside making him a player a team might ask for in a trade. - wcorvette
Doesn't make sense. What he's played his way into is a player that has value to the team he is on.

Both JVR and Jake started the year slowly and were even in AV's doghouse, but man they really have turned it around. Both have come up huge for us in recent weeks. It's telling what a great coach can do for a team. |

Hayes also 3 years younger, plays center, and is your second best penalty killer behind coots. agree to disagree. Just think hayes is more noticeable out there, does a lot of the little things. Also plays about 5 minutes more per game than JVR. Still think he has room to grow, and is on pace to set career high in goals this year. all promising signs.
Like you said, what you see is what you get with JVR. At his best, 25/25. |

My eye test was that before his injury, Gostisbehere was playing well and offered more than Hagg. I like Haag. The head coach was also extremely pleased with Gostisbehere at the time of his injury.

That's exactly why they need to avoid high cap hit players right now. They have such a good thing going and it's due to the influx of youth. Young players are going to need to be re-signed at some point. Have to look at the cap down the road. Don't mess this up. They have a nice mix of veterans and youth. Need to keep that pipeline coming to sustain a team. Please don't try and force it and speed up the timeline. Not the right move.

The Flyers are currently 8th overall in the standings. At what point do we consider them contenders in the playoffs? - dubc55
Patrick returning or picking up a legit 3C at the deadline combined with Hart figuring out how to stop a puck on the road would make them legit contenders with the potential to win a 7 game series against anyone. |
