With the Flyers on pace for about 100 points and more importantly actually looking like a 100-point team on the ice, I am as excited about this team as I have been in almost 10 years
What a long, horrible slog the last six years were, at various points. But that appears to be over now
I'm just happy for Chuck Fletcher, after all of the insane criticism he took for doing his job in trying to make the team better
Maybe they don't win the Cup this year. A few teams look more ready to do that
But the Flyers are gonna be a tough out, if they finish this season the way they are playing now and make the playoffs - AllInForFlyers
with their cap situation its going to be really important that the young players, including prospects, get better and better for them to become true contenders. Giroux, Hayes, JVR and Voracek alone take up 30,668,000 in cap space |

i wouldn't be opposed to this if both players weren't on expiring deals. - Ftown19125
They should be able to sign one of them. |

Ghost and a #1 for Duclair and Pageau. That would replenish the depth the Flyers lost up front. And it fits cap wise. - PLindbergh31
Trashes Holmgren constantly.
Makes trade proposals that exactly sound like something Holmgren would do. |

LOL yes and we got 2 future potential stars in the process. Sometimes that's the cost of doing business. - Bryz's Buyout Fund
Yes, hopefully Frost can catch up to Farabee soon. It could be one of those trades that benefit both teams. |

i wonder what kind of raise pagaeu would get. duclair is rfa so he'd be more affordable. i don't think i'd give up the first in that scenario though. |

Yes, the Kubina and JVR trades are mirror images of the trade I suggested.
Try again. |

They could get something done with him at this deadline. Bottom line is he’s a 7 for us making 4.5 mil - Just5

Holmgren traded away his 1st rounder multiple times.
You somehow forget about Eminger and Versteeg? |

Carter does not want to leave LA. He's 35, settled down, won his cups. Don't think he is the right piece at this point in time.
I would try to leverage JVR (maybe eat some of his cap hit too), picks, prospect, and see what that gets you. - Bryz's Buyout Fund
I read it somewhere that Carter wanted to stay in LA but was open to coming to Philly. |

I still think that if you really want to, because JVR is doing his 25/25-50 thing like clockwork again, that if you really want to get off that salary this offseason, then you can do that. Might eat a million, maybe 1.5, but they could get out of that if they truly wanted

Yea, I feel like with both guys, the sky is the limit. They will be impact players on this team for many years to come.
Even more of a reason to be able to give up future draft considerations, given that those two are right on the cusp of break out as early as next year.
A bottom 6 guy isn't going to get you where you need to be. You got guys right now, who fill those spots just fine: raffl, pitlick, laughton, NAK.

But the Flyers don't need another defenesman. I like Borowiecki tho. Very underrated. - PLindbergh31
The trade proposal was ghost for two forwards. If we are trade our 6 to 7 th d man I would rather a forward and d man returned. Better scenario imo. |

I totally agree that a team would consider taking JVR at 30 years old essentially on a 3 year / maybe 5.5 per deal. |

Just curious. For who. The teams that would be interested in jvr to me are the buyers. And I said before. His signing is still a little head scratching. |

The first round picks he traded off the top of my head were for Versteeg, and Eminger. Both awful. And for Timonen and Hartnell good.
Any others? |

I can cherry pick trades, too:
1st for Steve Eminger
1st and 3rd for Versteeg |

How is signing a 50 point LW puzzling when the team needed a 50 point LW.
Is the Hayes signing puzzling, too? |

I feel bad for anyone that has to go the other way in a trade with the Kings. Can't imagine they be in a position to contend for a few years. I assume they want prospects. I don;t midn standing pat but I am on record as being intrigued by adding Jeff Carter or Staal.
Ilya Kovalchuk LW 6,250,000/6,250,000
Dion Phaneuf D 2,187,500 /4,062,500/ 1,062,500/1,062,500

You want to give up the Flyers 1st for an undersized rental 3C and a RFA wing on his 5th team who will be overpaid based on his 2nd good season out of five.

At this point hagg is playing better and brings more stability than ghost has at anytime this year, and is better suited for the 3rd D pairing alongside Braun. I’m looking down the road also...I don’t see a role for ghost on the team that justifies his cap hit |

Per Dreger, Bogo will be placed on unconditional waivers with intent to terminate contract. Also said Buffalo tried very hard to trade him, even at 50% retained |
