Bowman needs to make deals that are best for the Hawks' future. No matter the size. He doesn't need to make a splash. He needs to be smart.

4 players over 30. 2 of those are the best players on the team. 9 players under 25. It is hardly an "aging" team. Since Seabs and de Haan aren't playing, I am not counting them for now.

Their prospect pool is pretty much 10-ish according to several evaluations. Prolly be higher if Dach and Boqvist weren't in the NHL.

I wanted them to finish with Detroit this season. Another Top 5 pick is huge for a rebuilding team.

Hawks should only trade Brandon Saad if they get a home run in return. If they move him, they should not take on any bad contracts like David Backes (although that isn't possible now). The only thing they should be acquiring are picks and young prospects. Their intentions should be to clear out cap space and acquire strong, young talent.

The point of doing it though would of potentially get a max return for Saad AND more for taking on Backes for a year so you'd be getting more. I get the point is to try and win next year but I'd be all for what brings the greatest return

Maybe Boston likes that Kase only costs $2.6mil. as opposed to Saad's $6mil.?

I don't think they can make any moves that make them contenders next year, sadly. I just meant it as, they are in a position now to move players for what THEY want in return. I assume what they value are young prospects, picks, and cap space. I 100% agree with you, they just need to bring in whatever the greatest return is. The only way I would bring in a player with money owed is if a. the contract was up at the end of this season; and b. it was a team who was strapped for cap space and the Hawks were getting a nice prospect or pick for taking on that player!

Per @SFedotoF Ilya Sorokin's rights are gonna be traded to the Blackhawks soon. I'm hearing the opposite. Lou met Sorokin's agent. There're some requirements from Ilya's side, A and B bonuses and Euro clause. 99% chance Sorokin coming to the NHL next year #Isles  #Blackhawks

If bowman was going to be fired it would have been done so by now.

Now if management has expectations and waits to see how the deadline goes, he could be fired this spring.

I still don’t see him being fired into the earliest of holiday time IF the team is off to a slow start.

He is being offered large cash by CSKA Moscow. IF the Hawks are looking at him, (and he comes over) might mean 40 and 50 are gone. Or, another split duties with CC?
