The Hurricanes have the assets in terms of draft picks. When you are trying to make the playoffs and you have a surplus of those assets you pull the trigger. Hanging on to next year's picks do nothing for you now.

Same with prospects. It seems Carolina has a formidable system with some nice young players. If the Hawks like one of them, packaging that player up for a 1st and 2nd would not be an overpay on Carolina's part.

Ek says the Canes are talking to Ottawa regarding Andersen and Pierre Lebrun suggests they talk to Anaheim about Ryan Miller. I'm sure the Canes GM will perform his due diligence by Monday.

The way goalies are going down, maybe Stan should call up Delia and hold back both Lehner and Crow.

If there is a Lehner/Gustafsson package sent to Carolina, I would also be on board with Bean, Suzuki, and one of their 2020 1sts plus one of Mrazek or Reimer if needed to make it work.

Then re-sign Crawford for 1-2 seasons at say $4M. Next season's goalies would then be Crawford + Mrazek/Reimer at $7.1-$7.4M total. This buys another year for Delia, Lankinen, and Tomkins to develop another season.

Btw, Tomkins got in a goalie fight tonight during a line brawl between the Hogs and Admirals (Preds farm team). Lots of bad blood between these two squads that's been brooding all season.

Anyone suspect that Lehner is not 100% recovered from the knee injury. He is too slow and not in a groove at all. Trade talks might be held up if some teams want assurance that Lehner is 100% healthy

Seems like we could get more for Gus and our goaltender(s) than the weak price it was beginning to look like. If Bowman wants a first round even a good prospect then maybe a package a goaltender and or Gus with Saad and take bad contract back. What would be the bad contract- over the hill veteran or Injured goaltender like Reimer
