Yep, team is starting to doubt themselves too. I predict a top 3 pick for this club this summer.
- catrisc

Do you mean a bottom three finish or a lottery win?

Pretty easy to see how both goalies can be here after the TDL: Lehner re-signs and Crow gives a 10 team list of teams not in the goalie market.

Not saying it will happen, but it could.

Gus could be here if he signs a cheap deal. Not saying I would like that much, but.....

- mohel

I could easily see both goalies being here after the TDL. Then 4 more months of negotiating with them to see which one (if any) is back next year. My guess is Lehner leaves and Crow signs for one more year at a little less than he is currently making.

Saad is supposedly Boston’s fall back if they can’t get Kreider from the NYR.
- scottak

I read something like this somewhere. maybe here, another blog or a trade rumour site.

Saad to Boston for Backes and a few other pieces. There would be two parts to the trade. Saad for a return and for Boston to get the cap space Backes + back to the Hawks.

So Saad for Backes, a young pro like Heinton, 2020 #1 and a couple of prospects.

Dude we get it. It was just an innocent thought that someone suggested on a Fake Trade blog. Stop taking this so seriously. Very lame.

And Seabrook too. LOL.

FYI Backes buyout cap hit is 4M for 20-21 and 1M for 21-22.

Why is it a fail? What does it matter if they are moved Monday or in the summer?
- paulr

Maximize the return. You know this. Nobody will give up much if anything for a guy in the summer (June) when they can sign him a few weeks later (July 1st) Don’t think so? Look at buff in Winnipeg.

This team needs as many picks and prospects as possible.

Or am I’m being obtuse?

In no scenario is keeping gus ok. He’s horrible at hockey. Mentally incapable of playing defense at the nhl level.

Your example of the goalies staying is the only scenario acceptable. If lehner isn’t signed he needs to be dealt. Crawford will be a helluva lot more tricky for bowman given his ntc

Saad to Boston makes sense for Boston. For hawks rhe return has to be huge to pull the trigger.

If 56 and both goalies are on this team Monday it’s a HUGE fail...

Even if it’s for mid round / lower prospects you do it...

Can’t imagine all three are on this team come October 2020....

- mike7076

Stan has always traded players who will be no use to him in the future or bad fits with the team. If he does not make trades it is safe to assume there was no market for those players.

It's funny how fans undervalue players from other teams. Let me guess. Some of the few things I've heard over the last couple of years are "Keith is worth a 4th round pick." "Toews is worth a second line center".

The team that makes the biggest splash this season will win the cup.

Last year, the Blues got O'Reily. Who will it be this year?

Trubisky for Mahomes Mitch was drafted higher.

does that mean both goalies and Gus will be re-sign? All three are "of use" to the team, including Gus. See how JC loves playing Gus

Not this time.

The return for all of them will be minimal. Now that it's too late to move the core I hope Crawford retires as a Blackhawk. Lehner should be re-signed by the Hawks provided his contract, especially the term, is reasonable but again should they trade him there I don;t think there will be much return. And Gus won't provide much return either excpept from the "Gus sucks so he's worth a top prospect and a high draft pick" crowd. Trading them before the TDL or releasing them in the summer won't make much of a difference and certainly the sky won't fall if they aren't traded.

Q wouldnt even be able to say "Bobo was just OK but we need more."

This Russian stiff in goalie pads is going to single handedly cost Florida a playoff spot and Tallon his job.

Regardless of the actuals, if Stan doesn't move Gus and a goalie it's a huge miss. Additionally, because the Hawks have the cap space to take a bloated contract for this year, if he doesn't net at least a first and a decent prospect, it's also a huge miss.

The article was written by Scott Powers and it was a conversation between him and The Athletic's Bruins writer. The Boston writer SUGGESTED Backes coming back in any deal for Saad, but Powers downplayed that completely, saying that any deal for Saad to Boston would start with their 1st round pick and a package of 2-3 prospects.

i agree with you on this one. Maximizing the return is always good but I'm not expecting more than a 2nd or a 3rd rounder. Anything added is a bonus

Maybe Lehner gets a 2nd or 3rd back but i hope the Hawks re-sign him. If Bowman can get a 2nd or 3rd back for Gus we just found a GM more stupid than Bowman allegedly is.
