And had Bowman traded Gus last summer thinning out an already thin blue line you’d be first to complain Bowman traded a defenseman when he already had so few. - paulr
Before you make a statement about what I may or may not think or say you should keep your silly comments to yourself. I have never been a fan of Gus, his constant deficiencies show and I advocated last summer for his trade while his stock was high.
Did Chicago have some injuries on their blue line this year absolutely, but you can't make that argument now about the blue line.
Besides Stan has enough defensemen in Rockford he can call up or substitute for depth.
Boqvist was always going to get his shot .

yeah so crow is different than lehner and rarely giving his assessment of poor play...ya know the guys always played great and blocked alota shots yadda yadda...he says that after they get ripped...lehner goes both ways and he does accept he own failures..
kinda like "I suck at shootouts" is that throwing his mates under the bus?
from what the beat writers say lehenr is well liked and respected by his hawks team mates..
i think this criticism is way over stated... - bogiedoc
Bogie, just going by what I see and hear from him, don’t care what the writers say, JMHO. By the way, he does not have teammates on the ice for shootouts, kind of hard to point fingers then. |

Gus plays defence in his own zone like any guy does in a closely officiated 65+ beer league where any body contact gets 2 minutes in the box.
And as far as his WTF moments, there are times Bowman when should have put him on LTIR and listed ADD as the injury justification. - RickJ
Never seen a professional play a 2 on 1 as fundamentally flawed as he did. Multiple times. They are better off without him. If he’s not a 70+ offensive point player his defense doesn’t warrant him playing. |

Well said. His offensive play is underwhelming last year was a anomaly.
I'm curious if the islanders are or where a potential trade option based on the flawed trade report yesterday regardingn ilya sorokin,,? |

FWIW, according to the Fourth Period, trade rumors have the following Blackhawks linked to:
Gustafsson to Canucks, Stars, Avs, Penguins, Canes, Knights
Lehner to Avs, Canes
Saad to Bruins, Flames, Isles
Non-Blackhawk players linked to Chicago: Puljujarvi (also linked to Rangers, Ducks) |

Lehner didn’t step up when stepping up was needed; Crawford overcame early issues and did.
If Lehner’s play has been affected by his contract / TDL issues, he’s not mentally tough enough (personal issues aside) to backstop through a long playoff run. |

The Blackhawks, defensively..ahem
In the last 32 games, Blackhawks have given up zero goals, zero times.
They have given up ONE goal, THREE times, and one of those games was last night against the Predators. Even though they gave up a WHOPPING 43 shots, it was only one goal against. Vintage Crawford and NO GUS...hmmmm...it appears Gus will be gone by the deadline. Hurry up Stan. I am realistically expecting a 2nd round pick in return, but there could be other pieces involved, hopefully including the Blackhawks taking on an expiring contract and a decent forward prospect. - MadHatter
I have a feeling you're gonna be disappointed |

Imo Stan always knew Gus wouldn't be on this team come 2020-2021 season and last summer Gus stock was at a all time high and the return would have been a lot better. - Taylorst1
But far less than if Gus had another 60 pt season Stan rolled the dice trying to make the playoffs. You shoot, you miss sometimes. |

I think by Monday most of us will be able to figure it out. Obviously I don't need a written document to be able to figure it out. - Hawkytalk

5 years. 16M. Club options for the last two years to extend to a 7 year deal. The most he will make is like 7.5M per.
Even if he is average it is still a great contract for a LH reliever. |

Agreed. Plenty of pizzas and plenty of times he seems to do the right thing reasonably well.
I'm good with him leaving, but how long until the board whines that Stan shoulda kept him? - mohel
His first point or goal for his new team would be my guess. |
