From 2009 to 2012 The Canucks overtook the Leafs as my most hated team but it's back to the Leafs. Growing up in the Toronto area I had to endure Leaf fans everyday. Listening to how great a team they were, how great Dougie Gilmour, Wemdell Clark, Mats sundin and (frank)ing Tie Domi were. Add to that the continual, to this day, whining about how Cary Frazer stole the Series against LA that happened almost 30 years ago. And if the team wins four games in October the stupid fans are planning (frank)ing parade routes. It's insanity and here they are, "the world's greatest hockey team" without a cup win in 53 years. Oh well I guess one good thing was when the Raptors won the NBA championship they already had a million parade routes to choose from.

I agree with you. Especially since this team will not make the playoffs anytime soon until they add 2 top 6 forwards that can handle the puck.

With all the dmen in the pipeline, somebody better develop into top 4 or this management staff has failed miserably. (Boqvist and Mitchell)

Time to continue to draft/trade for high end centers and wings. Hopefully trading Lehner or CC will address that but I certainly question what the heck they're doing.

Oh by the way..... playoff monies ALONG with next season's invoices are due any day now. I hear lots of season reservation holders may be opting OUT.

It's up to Bowman and Management to show their plan for moving forward. 2 days left to "Show Me"..... that's should be the new mantra....forget this " One Goal". Time for change gentlemen.

yes sage he has had his problems of late... but he was fantastic the first 40 games...with out him this team has at least 4-5 more losses and more blow out losses.

his career stats are still top 3 in the league...he is not "an avg at best golaie"...so you want to throw him under the bus for a recent bad patch...ok...but the whole team spit the bit the last 10 games...

if they can find away i would extend him...and i wouldn't be surprised if some of his issues the last month is contract TDL related...these guys can talk all they want about being focused but that unknown may be weighing on him...

- bogiedoc

At the most important time in the season - make or break time - he hasn’t stepped up - as he expected his teammates to do, based on many of his postgame comments.

Does he want a new high-value long-term contract? He should play like he deserves it - step up, be a leader, play above the team. He hasn’t done that x again, during THE critical period of games. Goalies especially need to let these things roll off.

Crawford, for instance, also looking for a new contract - the only differences - age and NMC - I’m guessing he’d like to stay here too. His last 8 games (7 on the road) - 4-3-1 with 17 goals allowed, save % .938, 34.5 SOGs per game. In February - 6 games - 2-3-1 with 14 allowed, save % .933, 35.0 SOG per game.

Go back to LAHawk’s post. Bowman is very strategic, he made mistakes but overall he calculated his moves taking the long term strength of the of the team and factoring in the cap. Had Bowman kept Panarin the same posters would be whining that Bowman is an idiot because he constructed a top heavy team who take up up too high a percentage of the cap with no thought to having cap resources for depth. Had the Hawks kept Panarin the Hawks would be marginally or no better than they are today.
- paulr

i agree with you...

give me a break the hawks would be onto another cup by now with over 33 million committed to toews/kane/panarin...of course the over all roster would be different...would ADB be here??

many makes their speculations based on the regression to the most recent

he didn't step up and play above the team the first 40 games...those wins he got matter less than the wins he supposedly is reponsible for not getting now..

i sated when he was facing 35-40 sogs/game; high danger chances all over the ice and he was the reasons the pk was any good the first 20 games; craw at one point allowed 7 pp goals to leheners 1. while sporting a .930 -.940 save % was not susinable he was going to revert and goals were going to be scored against...

Have to check some of those out later.

That North Stars team had so many: Disco Dino, Basil McRae, Churla, Darien Hatcher.

Was too bad when they went to DAL. Rivalry has never been the same with either club.

I think some criticism of Lehner is valid based on his recent play, especially when the team seemed to be creeping toward playoff spot contention. But there are ups and downs for all goalies over a long season.
Freddie Anderson in Toronto has been
at best inconsistent this season; on many nights Matt Murray in Pittsburgh doesn't look like the goaltender he was when the Penguins won 2 Cups back to back; Ben Bishop got yanked last night in a big game with St. Louis; Carey Price went thru a stretch this year where he couldn't stop anything.

Big picture, Lehner has gone from being publicly optimistic about the Hawks as a team to realizing they aren't going anywhere and now his employment is totally up in the air.

The NHL is a small world - he isn't going to sign in Chicago right now considering he is UFA in the summer and no doubt knows there are teams like Carolina out there (and probably 2 or 3 others) who will make him a very lucrative offer July 1. And his agent will have kept him in the know of the choices he will have available to him.

In the meantime its his job to play to the best of his ability which is hard to do behind this Blackhawk defence.

1st bolded point has alot of merit..the 2nd one for sure...

there was a stretch of 10 games before the break that the hawks looked to have turn the page defensively: quick sticks, strong back check, cut down on turnovers, limiting shots and high danger chances and now you have this recent regression...

this team needed to avoid a post break losing streak and odds were they were not going to avoid it...they have not and hence sell and look to next year and beyond...

Yes in the Backes trade. Those articles with trade proposals are from earlier in the week.

I prefer to keep Saad but would strongly consider Beecher plus Boston’s 2021 first or for another prospect and another asset.

The Bruins draft are likely to be in the 28-31 range per round.

Gotta think some teams are calling Stan about Connor Murphy - RH shot Dman, reasonable contract, lots of injuries around the league.

There was a good one in the 80’s I think where a double bill broke out and Manson was beating the poop out of Shane Churla or Richard Zelmak and I think it was McGill was beating the crap out of Basil McRae.

For me, more exciting was the Red wings Blackhawk game that occurred very soon after Bob Probert got out of jail. He was plenty swoll, maybe, from the daily workout in-house?

Probert took liberties and Charlie Manson (as his wonderfully robust attitude would handle it) went right after him and they were on the north long boards so my vantage point was down almost straight down the sheet from them.

We all were SO excite that finally Probie was gonna get matched up and we were gonna be able to at very least put him in check.

No so.

He grabber Charlie Manson's jersey and pep rag dolling him in close then out far from him until Manosn had much of his rile expended, and then Probert plummeted him, qickly and effectively. Like Manson was simply an inconvenience.

My friends and I turn to each other and with our mouths open, realized the beast was far from being tamed...

I'm not advocating trading him unless the return is just too good to turn down. I think he has more value than Saad does just because he can play in a good team's Top 4.

Carolina, Toronto, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Florida all could use him for a playoff run.

I honestly don't think they are trading Urho Vaakanainen who plays three zones and has decent size, and strength.
