Sounds like there was some smoke to the fire of this Sorokin trade.
Uncle Lou doesn't let ANYTHING out EVER... but apparently Sorokin and his agent have been talking about a trade to the Blackhawks.
Apparently, the Sorokin camp has been difficult in terms of their negotiations.
It's very interesting that the Hawks would entertain adding someone like Sorokin.
That means that they might not be too confident with Delia or Lankinen next year playing a backup role + sounds like Lehner is all but outta here.
Then again - and here's a crazy scenario - the Hawks leaked this to drive the Lehner camp's $$ lower. It might be so crazy it works. |

Also, this fits the narrative of my "wacky prediction" of the Hawks acquiring Georgiev in my fake trades.
Just sayin'

Powerenforcer will go crazy when Lou complains to NHL Head Office and Bettman awards the Islanders the Hawks #1 pick this year because Stanbo was tampering. |

Are you saying the Hawks would get Haula and then flip him? Who would we give up for him and why would we flip him. What do you know? |

i still don't think they'll trade the 1st for a pending UFA unless it's conditional on them signing. |

Why haven't we called up anyone to replace Smith? Would think inserting Hagel would light a fire under Strome n others, no? |

This thought crossed my mind as well. Definitely could be a think or maybe the Hawks have already decided they wanna move on from Lehner and keep Crow for one more year but want someone who they feel can come in right away next year and play a 1A/1B situation with Crow and get acclimated to the NHL. |

I read that Hagel has played really well in Rockford. Apparently his defenisve play is very strong and he's a good penalty killer plus he's closing in on 20 goals, plays on the powerplay but the best thing may be his skating is strong and he's like a bulldog on the puck. Hopefully the scouting on him hasn't been exaggerated. |

Hmm this definitely clears some needed cap space for them. They've been sniffing around Gus a lot from the rumors as of late. Perhaps this allows them to make said move and not lose much in value since they've already replenished it? |

Lol...I always viewed him as a cross between moon shiner and the guy who runs across the port o johns in the infield at Daytona.
I hope he's wearing his "playoff participant" t shirt jersey proud today. |

I am hearing more, regarding what someone else mentioned. Saad + Lehner, or Saad + Crawford, to Avalanche. The return is Alex Newhook and a 1st round pick + more. Stay tuned. This would be good for both teams. - MadHatter

You know what the best part of blogs like this is - we get to see fans of other teams overrating their prospects. Colorado has as good a chance as anybody to get to the SC out of the west = Byrum is a nobody if they can win it this year. Fans of Colorado, do you really think Joe will sacrifice this season just to keep Byrum in the organization? - powerenforcer
There is a solid pro con case so what the focus is upon is the priority of going all out by trading Byram should this trade be the best way to strengthen the team.
I suggest to! please carefully consider the fact that reaching the Stanley Cup final round is akin to the runner in a marathon stretching out in a grueling battle of endurance.
The Avalanche has to figure whether they are confidant enough with their goaltending. Trade acqusition may be part of that equation. Great significance also comes in the expected return from Raatanen 's injury .
I believe all of this would be criteria pondered by Avalanche fans. Good question ppweremforcer |
