Boston got rid of Backes, cost them a prospect, who was a 2nd rounder, and a 2020 1st round pick, but they did get a 24 year old 11 goal scorer back. Scored 20 a few years ago.

Get deal fro Anaheim as they drafted Kase in the seventh round

And Boston had to retain money

Eriksson is owed 8M in real dollars after this season, 5M after his bonus is paid.

No way he agrees to terminate his contract, I also have no doubt that the league would punish Canucks retroactively.

- belcherbd

They can agree to terminate his contract, as has been done many times before, and he can walk away. But five million is a lot of money, unless he signs another deal with someone, which is unlikely given how bad he is now.

Doesn't really matter much like Guddy being a top 5 pick.

Good deal for Anh though, I don't think Kase is more than a 3rd liner.

Yep, I doubt anyone in here walks away from 2 years easy salary just to do their employer a solid.

You don't think LE would give up 5m in order to avoid 2 years of riding a bus? If he doesn't do it this summer, I would wager he does it next season when his ass is set to Utica.

He would probably get that 5m back in the SHL.

To replace the players that previously were being paid it?

It's all fine and dandy to say Edler and his 6M is disappearing and Hughes can use it but that means you replace your top 2 LHD for the price of one.

In two years, when Beagle and Roussel and Sutter’s contracts are up do you think they will just have all that extra cap space?

You don’t think that anything will happen between now and then? That existing players who’s new deals will kick in, that other FA will be signed. Markstrom? Virtanen, Joulevi, Tanev Hughes, Pettersson, etc etc.

I'm sure JB will be working hard at extending Sutter, Baertschi, Spooner, and Benn for comparable cap hits.

Obviously I understand the need to fill roles, but there is a lot of dead money that will come off the books.

Call me an optimist but I think our next 4th line C won't cost 3 mil. Sure you need to replace Edler but Hughes will be top pairing quality by then, so maybe you don't need to spend the same % on the replacement.

He missed 19 games.

LE also hasn't scored in 9 games.

Makita has been telling you TG is limited.
