yup. a CHLer who makes the NHL before 20 will probably be good same with University. If they do 4/5 years or junior or graduate university and go to the AHL they probably will not be consistent NHLers. And Euros send to stay in Europe for the money so they stay or play in the show
- mr.peanut

Exactly.

What I'd expect from an AHL team is seeing prospects develop and improve. Playoffs...well good if they make them but it's not the end of the world if they don't in my opinion.

As long as there is clear development work done, which wasn't the case during the Sylvain Lefebvre years. There seems to be an improvement with Bouchard, but so far he hasn't been given a lot to work with.

control what you can control.

takes no talent to be on time, try hard, keep a positive attitude and be a good teammate.

That's probably what Bouchard told Barber and Varone.

You are AHL lifers, accept it.

Just watch them score 20 goals with Crosby next year

I'm too lazy to do the research, but I wonder... among teams that won a Calder Cup, say in the last 10 years, how many of those were built with actual prospects that went on to have great NHL careers?

In my opinion, legit great players don't spend more than a year or two in the AHL.

there is usually a gem or 2 every year. But yeah, every season you should have 4-6 guys who could be on the big team the following year even if it is forwards 7-13 or defensemen 5-7

other than KK and Poehling the #1's have been a disaster...seriously screwed up the development of several #1 picks....other than a handful of decent trades...what has this clown Bergevin done?...he's kept them out of the playoffs...the re tool needs to be a rebuild...and Bergevin should be gone

I think Juulsen would be playing for the Habs if it wasn't for the concussions

Speaking of him, he's back at practice with the Rocket. No timeline on his return.
