I'm all for them signing all their worthy draft picks to contracts and forget about the whole "signing AHL veterans" thing.
- BashCH

Anyway, all their underachiever prospects are becoming AHL veterans.

Well no, he was strictly defensive so not a good all around game at all.

The scouts rated him 10/10 on intangibles.

control what you can control.

takes no talent to be on time, try hard, keep a positive attitude and be a good teammate.

I'm too lazy to do the research, but I wonder... among teams that won a Calder Cup, say in the last 10 years, how many of those were built with actual prospects that went on to have great NHL careers?

In my opinion, legit great players don't spend more than a year or two in the AHL.

I think the real question is, are Nick Kypreos and Dr. Recchi the same person?

Guy couldn't break the PPG in juniors, don't know where the hype came from other than captain at WJC thing

Wasn't there a sliced achille tendon injury in his case and that he wasn't the same player afterwards?

yup. a CHLer who makes the NHL before 20 will probably be good same with University. If they do 4/5 years or junior or graduate university and go to the AHL they probably will not be consistent NHLers. And Euros tend to stay in Europe for the money so they stay or play in the show
