Dreger’s motivation to support Botterill and get Botts’ message out to the fans is so that Botts will continue to give him scoops like “Sabres expected to place Bogosian on waivers today.”
Botterill’s motivation to say he is trying to make trades but can’t find a partner is to defend his inaction. He’s scared to make a move because almost every move he makes is bad. He is obviously not able to negotiate a decent trade and the other GMs smell the blood in the water. Also, based on his reaction to the Ottowa loss he is still hoping to win this year, and doesn’t want to sell because he feels his job is on the line. So he has to appease the angry fan base by acting like he is trying to do what he should be doing when he can’t get it done while at the same time he secretly is hoping some stroke of luck will get this team in the playoffs so he can keep his job.
CTE symptoms include:
Difficulty thinking (cognitive impairment)
Difficulty planning and carrying out tasks (executive function)
It seems to me the guy isn’t thinking straight and can’t carry out the tasks of a GM. Am I wrong?
How you can say that Botts saying things to try to appease the fans and owners so that he can keep his job makes no sense? - Beethoven
You do realize that Dreger’s source is Botterill himself right? It’s like listening to what the White House press secretary is saying about the president and acting like it’s objective reporting. - Beethoven
Give it a rest already. Botts, the Pegula's and Krueger could dive head first into the Falls and would have more knowledge than you do about hockey and running a business.
Ppl need to stop trading our top10 pick

If it's after 5 I'm 100% trading that package for Meier. A guy who is actually good, right now, for a guy who may or may not be good likely 3 years from now.

Have them play against Matthews, McDavid, Crosby, etc every night, most shifts and they will be undressed and exposed right now. I hope the Sabres do trade Risto and this happens. I will sit back and laugh - GilPerreault11
Just to give you an idea, even when he has the puck in his own zone, he's bad at transition. Competition is mostly irrelevant in this scenario.

It’s whether he pulls the trigger.
If we believe what we hear from LeBrun and Dreger etc. he’s not getting legit offers for the D men.
So can we get mad that he’s not making a bad trade? - sbroads24
At what point should a GM realize that the value HE has placed on his own players is too high?
We have heard this same issue relative to Kane, to ROR, and to Risto in the past 2 seasons.
The narrative that he is in a bad spot and other GM's know it and are low-balling him is old and tired...not to mention of his own doing if true.
I said it back in July that people will have a heart attack at the return when the young, 6'4", tough, mobile, offensively capable RhD is traded.
Maybe, just maybe the value from 30 other GMs is more accurate.

As far as a multiple player trade with the Flames involving Gradeau...I'd much prefer to use those assets to acquire a 2C...but if I had to make the deal, then I'd want to unload Skinner, get a very solid prospect rather than a "meh" player, and need to get a 1st back this year...else, no deal.
So
Skinner, Risto, 2020-1st
for
Gradeau, Pellitier, 2020-1st
$9m for Skinner is about $1.5m too much, we all knew it was an overpayment.
Now, if they acquire Gradeau and retain Mojo and Olo, they should look to off-load their costly player at the position and NOT create yet another hole to fill.
Pellitier will be a nice 2LW, maybe even grow into 1LW...Flames will push-back, but F'em....Sabres don't need to acquire a LW and the value difference between say Skinner and Gradeau is far, far less than the value gained by using those assets to acquire a true 2C over the likes of Mojo, Lazar, Larsson, Erod...right? Right.
I would trade it in a package in a HEARTBEAT to get a real, Bona fide, 2c! Not a wing converting to c. Not an unproven 3c, Who might be able to make the jump. Not bjustead. An actual 2c and that pick is gone.
I would not do it for a 2RW.
Bjustead will be traded for sheary and he will be our 2c. It’s the botts way.

Am i the only one that thinks Casey will be a very good top 6 player in the NHL? Why is everyone packaging him in a trade to ship him out of buffalo? He's young and still learning how to play without the puck in Krueger's system
