I really don't care if he does it know or in the offseason, but I am 100% sure he will make a move for a 2C or 2RW, might not get that big splash right know but I think one or 2 of Erod,Vesey,Larsson,Girgs gets moved by the deadline.

Dreger’s motivation to support Botterill and get Botts’ message out to the fans is so that Botts will continue to give him scoops like “Sabres expected to place Bogosian on waivers today.”

Botterill’s motivation to say he is trying to make trades but can’t find a partner is to defend his inaction. He’s scared to make a move because almost every move he makes is bad. He is obviously not able to negotiate a decent trade and the other GMs smell the blood in the water. Also, based on his reaction to the Ottowa loss he is still hoping to win this year, and doesn’t want to sell because he feels his job is on the line. So he has to appease the angry fan base by acting like he is trying to do what he should be doing when he can’t get it done while at the same time he secretly is hoping some stroke of luck will get this team in the playoffs so he can keep his job.
