My point being he wasn't worth keeping for Carolina except to basically unload him for scraps. The narrative on here and Twitter is that he is a great player driven by his 5v5 stats. Well, they knew his stats, saw him for what 8 years? And had no problem dumping him and not looking back. That doesn't happen if you are a "great" goal scorer who doesn't "grow on trees." 11 goals, I guess they saw something.
