Jason Spezza on #Leafs fight for playoff lives: "We're playing meaningful hockey so we're exactly where we want to be and we have a chance to grow. We put ourselves in a position where we control our fate by winning our games and that's a great spot as a team to be in."

joel is my new favorite poster on HB, very rational well thought out posts.

Sorry Garnie you are #2 now..honorable mention to moneypuck and Law

😍

Im finding moneypuck pretty insightful. Garnie and I don't agree on some things but it's easy to respectfully discuss it with him and I appreciate the rarity of those kinds of posters here.

They really do. Can’t rely on Andersieve to make a (frank)ing save.

At the start of the season, I expected more from Andersen, Tavares, Barrie and Kerfoot. These guys need to be better if we are to make the playoffs.

Imagine what it would be like to have a 3rd line centre that scores 30 goals.

No, it is because your post was ridiculous and disturbing and literally not one other person has the time or energy to debate that mess with you.

That, and your "opinions" prove absolutely nothing. I am not even sure why you believe your analysis would in any way comprise a valid argument. It's just weird dude.

Yes proving you wrong is "just weird".

How convenient.

Just proves how unwilling you are to look at the actual plays, the actual goals and realize that Andersen wasn't to blame for the vast majority of them.

If we look at just with Keefe

Leafs have 354 HDCA which is 23rd in the NHL. but they have 394 (52.67%)
Florida for example is just below the Leafs with 352 but only have 283 (44%)

even stingy Dallas has given up 348, only 6 less than the Leafs

the 5v5 save % during that time

Leafs .912
Panthers .920
Dallas .935

Leafs are 26th in sv% over that time.

I think you have helped make the point that the Leafs have gotten some poor goaltending

- senstroll

Again, skewing the stats. You're not taking into account the entire season, you're not taking into account the PK, you're not taking into account that Hutchinson was actual garbage would have lowered the team SV%, which is not Andersen's fault.

Go back and look at the actual goals. It's not Andersen the majority of the time.

You haven't proven anything. Zero, zilch. It's funny you think you have.

There is never one person to blame when a goal is scored. there are generally 3 or 4 players on the ice that have done something wrong. Some worse than others.

Listing off a bunch of goals and pointing "welp, that's a cross ice pass that got through" and saying it's not the goalies fault is ridiculous. Every goalie faces those, some more than others. Better goalies save more of those than not so good goalies. in the past Andersen has made more of those saves than your average starter. Recently, he has made less so, it's blatantly obvious.

Any fan of any team can go in, and play your game, and find blame somewhere else on the ice. There are probably some goalies you could say are responsible for 0 goals against this year, using your little nonsensical method.

None of this changes that Andersen has not been playing as an above average starter. He has in the past. He's not this year.

There is no single reason the Leafs haven't been great over stretches this year, there are several. Andersen underperforming is most certainly one of them.

Yes, we all know the truth is that Andersen has not been that good this year.

Yes, we know, look at a spread sheet and completely ignore the facts of what actually happened on the ice, play by play, goal by goal. Gotcha.
