For those who are blaming Andersen:

Since January 1st, here's how the Leafs games have gone. Let's see how many goals and games are actually Andersen's fault.

D = (D-Zone breakdown or turnover)
C = (Cross ice or crease pass to open player with open net)
S = (Screened or deflected)
B = (Breakaway or partial breakaway)
O = (Odd-man rush)
50/50 = (might have been able to save but not entirely his fault either)
100 = (100% Andersen's fault)
F = (Fluke goal nobody could have stopped)

Jan 2. - WPG - 6-3 W 48 shots against, .938 SV%

Leafs get bombarded by shots in the 1st period, still lead 2-0 because of Andersen.

1st goal, on the 17th shot, Connor scores on a hard wrist shot. (50)
2nd goal, Laine gets a lucky rebound off a Rielly stick check blocked shot, scores on a really hard shot and angle. (D)
3rd goal, Scheifele with a great shot. (50)

Andersen steals this game with 45 saves.

Jan 6. - EDM - 6-4 L 19 shots against, .842 SV%

1st goal is a triple screen (S)
2nd goal double screen (S)
3rd goal cross ice pass to wide open player. (C)

Not Andersen's fault, got pulled. Hutchinson let in 3 more goals, still lost the game.

Jan 8. - WPG - 4-3 SOL 28 shots against, .893 SV%

1st goal left his net made a mistake. Everyone agrees Andersen is not good when he leaves his net. (100)

2nd goal, Tavares gives up the puck easily on the PP, shorthanded breakaway goal. (D)

3rd goal, 3 on 1. (O)

*Stops a 2-0 in OT (for those who say he doesn't make difficult saves)

Jan 12. - FLA - 8-4 L 12 shots against, .667 SV%

1st goal, wide open guy backdoor, another cross ice pass. (C)
2nd goal, wide open guy in front, cross crease pass. (C)
3rd goal, 2 on 1, short side goal. 50/50 he could have stopped this one. (50)
4th goal, triple screen, Panther in front nobody moves him, as usual. (S)

The Leafs were playing like absolute poop and he was getting bombarded from the opening minute. Got pulled, Leafs left him to hang and dry.

Jan 14 - NJD - 7-4 W 29 shots against, .862 SV%

1st goal, Leafs winning 4-0, partial breakaway, great individual effort (B)
2nd goal, winning 6-1, another partial breakaway. (B)
3rd goal, winning 6-2, Dermott doesn't cover guy in front. (D)
4th goal, Subban point shot with goalie pulled, screened. (S)

Didn't need to play this game, waste of his time to play against the crappy Devils. But, as usual, Andersen gets tossed into games he doesn't need to play. Played great for most of the game, New Jersey got some meaningless goals at the end when it was already over, mostly due to blown coverage.

Jan 16 - CGY - 2-1 SOL 32 shots against, .969 SV%

1st goal, Calgary player in front deflects a point shot because Ceci is garbage. (S)

Made a massive save in OT (Again for those saying he doesn't make difficult saves)

Played really well overall in a low scoring goalie duel, got a point, lost in the stupid SO. Leafs went 0 for 3 in the SO which you'd think they'd be able to get at least one goal with their high end skill players but nope.

Jan 18 - CHI - 6-2 L 34 shots against, .824 SV%

1st goal, shot goes wide, takes a lucky bounce off the backboards right to an open player on the other side. Barrie not covering his player. (D)

2nd goal, Toews beats him 5-hole, probably should have stopped this one. (100)

3rd goal, Saad beats him far side, probably should have stopped this one. (100)

4th goal, Toews beats him 5-hole on a wrap around, should have stopped this one. (100)

5th goal, Kubalik short side wrist shot on a partial breakaway. (B)

6th goal, Kubalik with a circus shot, bats the puck out of the air on a wild cross ice play. Nobody stops this fluke of a shot. (F)

First legit bad game by Andersen in 2020, cost them points not that the Leafs played well this game because they sucked the bag too.

Jan 27 - NSH - 5-2 W 36 shots against, .944 SV%

1st goal, 2 on 1, pass makes it across to open player. (O)
2nd goal, rebound off a point shot after a face-off, lucky bounce. (D)

Andersen steals this game with 34 saves.

Jan 29 - DAL - 5-3 W 34 shots against, .912 SV%

1st goal, Dallas player skates by 3 Leafs standing still for a partial breakaway, picks a corner. (B)
2nd goal, cross ice pass to Radulov, wide open. (C)
3rd goal, triple screened point shot. (S)

Anybody noticing a pattern yet with how opponents score goals?

Andersen out-dueled Bishop (leader in SV% past 5 years) so that shows to the people saying Andersen can't outplay other top goalies, he can and he did.

Feb 3 - FLA - 5-3 L
8 shots against, .875 SV% -

1st goal, (Pysyk, a D playing RW), Dermott leaves him to chase a guy behind the net and the open player got the pass and scored. (D)

Got injured.

Feb 13 - DAL - 3-2 L 19 shots against, .842 SV%

1st goal, Dallas player beats multiple Leafs standing around, beats Andersen 5-hole. Andersen might have been able to save this one but not solely his fault. (50)
2nd goal, Faksa breakaway (B)
3rd, Seguin wide open cross ice pass on the PP (C)

Makes a big save on a breakaway in the 3rd period to keep the Leafs close. Leafs make it 3-2 eventually.

First game back from injury, could cut him some slack, maybe still hurt / rusty.

Feb 16 - BUF - 5-2 L 36 shots against, .861 SV%

Makes a huge goal line save that got reviewed and called no goal (even though it was over the line). Nonetheless, another example of Andersen making a difficult save for those who say he doesn't make them.

Leafs getting bombarded by Buffalo, Andersen standing tall for as long as he can.

1st goal, point shot bounces off the boards to open BUF player, open net. (D)
2nd goal, point shot, double screen, deflection. (S)
3rd goal, cross ice pass to open player on the PP, Leafs quit playing. (C)
4th goal, Sandin gets beat, BUF player on a breakaway. (B)
5th goal, Leafs give the puck away in their own zone, don't cover guys in front, easy walk in pass and play. (D)

Leafs got badly outplayed, left Andersen to dry even though he kept them in it for 2 periods until they took some penalties and started pouting instead of playing.

Feb 18 - PIT - 5-2 L 24 shots against, .792 SV%

1st goal, cross ice pass on the PP, Crosby is a magician. (C)
2nd goal, shot gets deflected by player not being covered or moved by Marincin. (S)
3rd goal, cross ice pass on the PP, Crosby is a magician again. Marincin sucks. (C)
4th goal, Crosby starts a tic-tac-toe play, Leafs look like an atom hockey team. (D)
5th goal, went out to play the puck, made bad play, gave the puck away body language suggests he gave up on the team after they gave up on him. (100)

TOTAL:

D = 9 (D-Zone breakdown or turnover)
C = 8 (Cross ice or crease pass to open player with open net)
S = 8 (Screened or deflected)
B = 5 (Breakaway or partial breakaway)
O = 3 (Odd-man rush)

F = 1 (Fluke goal nobody could have stopped)

50/50 = 4 (might have been able to save but not entirely his fault either)
*Maybe lost 1 point to Dallas because of a 50/50?

100 = 5 (100% Andersen's fault)
*3 vs. CHI, cost them at least 1 point, maybe 2.
*1 vs. WPG, cost them 1 point maybe.
*1 vs. PIT cost them 0 points.

Points stolen by Andersen - 7 (at least)
Points lost because of Andersen - 3 (4 if you blame him for the WPG SOL)

Very difficult saves (that apparently he never makes) - 5*

*I didn't check the highlights for every single one, these are just the ones that I saw randomly so there's probably a lot more.

All this during a "bad" 2020 where the Leafs have had injuries on their blueline, AHLers filling in for those injuries, a zero effort team and a coach that doesn't give a (frank) about defense.

But yeah, Andersen is the problem.

Jets are trying to trade Big Buff before terminating his contract.

Should the Leafs roll the dice?

If he's healthy, he might fit their needs pretty well next season.

If he's not healthy, LTIR and it's like he's not even here.

Wonder what the Jets want for him.

- JohnFergusonJr

Depending on his conditioning. If its anywhere near where he has been throughout his career than yeah. But if he's super fat than no lol

Yeah because if he becomes a UFA he's totally going to ignore all the other teams and sign with the Leafs for league minimum.

His health and conditioning is paramount but 1 year at 7.6 AAV is actually manageable.

I've got a cousin who's a big Panthers fan so I end up seeing a lot of those games, including in person. He's really not that good. He's a slightly more accomplished Petan (another small, skill failure by Dubas).

TOTAL:

D = 9 (D-Zone breakdown or turnover)
C = 8 (Cross ice or crease pass to open player with open net)
S = 8 (Screened or deflected)
B = 5 (Breakaway or partial breakaway)
O = 3 (Odd-man rush)

F = 1 (Fluke goal nobody could have stopped)

50/50 = 4 (might have been able to save but not entirely his fault either)
*Maybe lost 1 point to Dallas because of a 50/50?

100 = 5 (100% Andersen's fault)

Jesus this is ridiculous. Will never get read once.

There is no "THE" problem. Andersens record isnt even bad. But its plainly obvious him playing way below previous years and well below average NHL starter levels is ONE OF the problems. Among other things like bad defensive zone coverage.

Its also funny a team who sits in third in the division has its fans freaking out like this in a slump.

I've got a cousin who's a big Panthers fan so I end up seeing a lot of those games, including in person. He's really not that good. He's a slightly more accomplished Petan (another small, skill failure by Dubas).

Leafs traded the best up-and-coming power forward in Marchment for a guy who’s younger and has as many goals scored this year as Marchment has NHL games played in his career.

If it doesn't get read it's because the current Andersen haters can't deal with an in depth look at the facts because it clearly proves them wrong.

It's very low on the list. Look at it, goal by goal, you will realize the truth.

What's funny is how bad this team is at defending both because of the players and the coaching but how one of the best players on this team the past 5 years is erroneously being blamed.

"3rd in the division" doesn't mean much when you consider how bad the bottom half of the division is. Leafs are barely a playoff team at this point in a year where they were suppose to be a contender. There's good cause for concern.

Petan would be in an Art Ross race if not for Babcock or something, right?

Leafs lose every trade. Even when they get the better player. So says a Bruins fan.

I don’t think the Leafs will be able to go 14-7 with their remaining schedule

Playoff teams: PIT, CAR, TBL, FLA, VAN, TBL, BOS, NYI, CBJ, FLA, TBL, CAR, WSH

*FLA isn't a playoff team technically (yet) but those are going to be like playoff games so...

Non-playoff teams: SJS, LA, ANA, NSH, NJD, OTT, DET, MTL

Those 8 games against non-playoff teams are must wins. Absolutely can not afford to lose any points there. To go 14-7, that's going to be tough.

They won't make a wild card spot because if Florida passes them, they probably can't catch Carolina, Philadelphia or Columbus the way they are playing.

So the game is, stay ahead of Florida. Won't be easy but it's possible.

After that, 1st round ass kicking and back to planning for next year.

1 season, 148 episodes. At least for the 2011 version.
- Steven_Seagull

Oh, didn't know that all that only counted as one season.

The story isn't a whole lot past that still. I assume they won't make new episodes until the story progresses further, and that'll take an annoyingly long time.
