Thinking that Eriksson will retire is like thinking Luongo would never retire. Also, after paying his bonus, if he walked away the Canucks would be on the hook for $7m recapture. Trading him is your only option, what are you willing to give up? A 1st? One of your only 2 good prospects? Maybe the cost is less, but I doubt it. I think he’s in the books for two more seasons.

Skin rash. Also cap recapture isn’t that simple.
- CanuckDon

I realize it isn’t that simple, but I tried to make it easy for a moron like you to understand

I’m all for Lui developing a rash and going on LTIR, but I don’t believe in Santa, leprechauns, or unicorns.

The team may be better, but he hasn't had any better linemates than last year. He also plays on PP1 in a position where he rarely touches the puck, so he doesn't get many points there.
- NorthNuck

Fair points of course. However he has been with Pearson since late last year and it was good chemistry...I just want to see how Toffoli can help Bo's line. I'm sure it will happen soon.

Side A: Recent moves indicate an all in attitude

Side B: Recent moves indicate building for future success

Is that kind of the sides people are taking?

At 1st I thought so, then another proposal was posted right after for Subban, so I can't tell jokes from reality or stupidity.

Help me bloated, will you be my voice of reason going forward.

Take everything you read as a joke and it all becomes much easier to tolerate.

I'm sticking with 91 points no playoffs. If we can't beat teams like Minny and ANA down the stretch for 2 points we are in trouble.

Sorry Vinty, cap recapture was only for deals that circumvented the previous CBA, by adding additional years and/or plummeting salaries in the final years to artificially lower the AAV

Loui's was complaint both in length and the percentage the salary dropped year over year and signed within the current CBA system. He also signed before he was 35 so that penalty is avoided too

I was almost certain this was case. Thank you for saving me the research. Loui is off the books come july. I guarantee it

A point gained or a point lost?

Last night's outcome against the Wild can be viewed either way. Which side are you on?

They’ve done both simultaneously. So why choose?

There is only a handful left, most went LTIR and some like Crosby and Ovechkin will end up playing the entire thing. I imagine the next "loophole" they will close is the signing bonus loaded contracts, even though I think its great for NHL transactions

You are wrong. Any contract that offers advantages for not finishing the contract is subject to recapture. Yes, it was created specifically to deal with the Luongo type deals, but it’s why almost contracts for older players are the same $ each year. No benefit, no recapture.
