Dadonov is way more valuable than Schultz and FLA is looking for LD.
- Feds91Stammer

Yeah I mean the only plausible Schultz scenario thats been floated would be Schultz for Granlund or Craig Smith.

After reading JR's interview with NHL.com, I still have a gut feeling he is going to land Jean-Gabriel Pageau. He fits our playing style and I feel he is someone JR has wanted (same with Zucker). He stated he is looking for someone who can help the top 12, but I think he is looking at 3rd line C which had been reported earlier in the year. Maybe even Namestnikov if Pageau is too high of a cost.

As a strange side thought, I kinda wonder if JR is still in on Kreider or he has his eye on someone else from NYR since they have had scouts, scouting us the last 5 games (including the Toronto game).

He's really waiting on that Defense. If he feels Dumo will be ok then he'll go for another forward. But I'm not seeing it. We'll need that LD i think.

Edit: It would be amazing if he heard great news from Dumo but I doubt it.

Idk I think the prices are too high for a defenseman which is why I think he may have started out with Defense as the priority. I agree from his comments he is going to see the status of the health of Dumo and Marino before he makes another deal. I have this weird gut feeling he is going to go big with another deal (I'm really have a feeling he wants to acquire Pageau).

When Letang was out he acquired Hainsey and Strait. I would imagine he'll be trying IF Dumo is gonna be out. But maybe he'll be ok. Also I can see him getting Pageau.

The biggest thing here is how do other teams view Schultz. While most of us here are probably in agreement that he's just not as good was he was his first couple of years with the Pens. Does that mean other teams don't view him as a valuable player? Nope. You never know what other GM's value or see in a player as far as how they will fit on their team.

Moving Schultz would no doubt be easy. What's not easy is finding the right return or at least a trade that makes sense for the Pens. RW mentioned Hoffman. Depending on how FLA's situation plays out and cannot land a solid dman with term, and IF they do view Schultz as a dman who makes sense as a rental, I do think a Hoffman/Schultz swap makes sense.

Obviously a lot of IFS here, but that's how it goes.

I just don't see how you trade a D for a forward, at least until Dumo is back and you know he is absolutely 100%. Then there's Marino. Hoffman would be awesome, but I think it leaves the D vulnerable to a not-so-good injury scenario.

Does AHL championship experience count? Tatar won one of those and was the playoff mvp.

Yohe mentioned Sheary in an article today. Not a direct quote from GMJR, obviously, but usually Yohe has some fairly decent connections.

It's not that I'm against Sheary, I just don't see where he fits in.

Depth maybe? Let them fight for a spot in the lineup. If he's cheap, I don't see why not. Knows our style of play and system.

I guess I just can't put lines together with him. He really only excelled here on Sids line. He'd either bump simon down or play on a line with Bjugstad and Horny. I don't see him with the blueger line.

FFS. This team doesn't need a smallish ineffective forward. I'm thinking of a bug meeting a windshield against teams like Boston and Washington. The teams in our path will make Sheary useless.

Somebody mentioned Miles Wood earlier. I'll take him.

I think if Buffalo at some of the cap I'd go for a guy like Frolik as a rental. Good two way forward for the bottom 6 with a veteran presence and kills penalties. He has been a horrible fit in Buffalo.
I like Miles Wood too, but he is young and signed for a few years so I wonder how cheap he would come.

They should just start dealing next years picks for Tatar/Palmieri and load up for next year.

Simon+1st+Prospect for Tatar

Zucker-Sid-Tatar/Palmieri
Guentzel-Geno-Rust
Kahun-McCann-Hornqvist
ZAR-Blueger-Tanev

Trade Bjugstad. Trade JJ. Let Schultz walk

Frolik has been so bad... I dont think I'd take the chance of basically adding Galchenyuk back

i would have no issue with trading schultz. he wants a raise and i dont think the pens will resign him. they may as well get something that improves the team and since he makes more than $5M, that # can come back with no impact. I am all for it.

Except Frolik actually plays a defensive game. His numbers have tanked since the move to buffalo, but if we are talking cheap veteran depth options I like him.

This is why I liked Kreider coming here, and before the trade was made, instead of Zucker. In Sully and JR we trust, and I prefer the speed game for sure, but BOS and WAS are the BIG test moving forward.

LOL, not exactly sure why this is all underlined...

Simon is being traded and Kahun is 3LW.

Go big or go home, I say. One less RFA to worry about, too. Also, we don't need to worry about Tatar/Palmieri in the expansion draft, either.

That’s an absolutely stacked forward group for next season, full of puck hounds and guys who can finish. The only question mark is probably the 3rd line but honestly, that lineup gives Sully incredible flexibility. Almost every wing can play both sides and slide up and down the roster without missing a beat.
